Got mine!!!

Happy to say, I picked mine up last night! The truck rolled in around 9:30 Friday morning, but I couldn't get out there until about 4:30.

Car had 9 miles on it when I got in to test drive it. About 26 by the time I was done. WOW!!! :D

This thing's got some power. Definitely the sportiest car I've ever driven! I'm sorry, but the 8 DOES have acceleration. It really wants to go. Trying to keep the revs below 4k, although the manual just says not to run it at or above 7k continuously (duh).

I'm 6'1" and fit great. Couple of inches of headroom to spare. I've got the cloth seats and a moonroof. The cloth seats look great and are VERY comfy.

What else...oh yeah, the A/C works very well. It's 92 today and it felt good inside the car.

Bose stereo is...well, eh. The center (dash) speaker is too loud. The main sound seems to come from the middle of the dash instead of all around the interior. I can't seem to find any way to control the individual speaker volumes. I'm going to die tryin', though.

You've already heard the main stuff, handles great, feels great, shifts great, looks great...life is good.

Gotta go. Only put about 160 miles on it so far today. I need to get to 600 ASAP! I can't wait to feel this thing at redline.

Congrats! I hope to have mine in 2-3 weeks.

I agree, the RX-8 has impressive acceleration. Compared to my 2nd gen rx-7, the renesis is light years ahead!! I test drove one today at Randy Blount with 3 people in the car( dealer rep was in back), and with the air conditioning on. Absolutely flew by people on the highway( 86 mph before I knew what was going on)

I accidently red-lined 2 gear. Was trying to exit the highway when some goof ball in an eclipse cut me off. I dropped to 2nd and smoked by him. Before I could grab for 3rd gear, beeper went off. The sound of the renesis is much more masculine at higher rpm's than my prior rotary.

BTW, The dealer was actually encouraging me to drive the car hard. I swear I was kept the revs below 6 most of the 15 minute test drive.:D

Regarding room, my wife 5'9' sat in the front, salesperson 6' sat
in back with at least 3-4 inches of knee room. He was quite comfortable. He kept commenting on how he felt like he was in a private jet with the sound of the renesis.::D :

Other notables
1.Bose sounds great, impressive low tones/bass
2. Turning radius seems quite small(despite prior concerns)
3. Dealer added spare tire hung from top of trunk at took up
too much space for my liking
4. This car is absolutely amazing compared to my prior 2nd gen
rx-7.eek:

I noticed this, too. The turning radius is VERY tight! I was impressed!

The power steering is also the best I've ever experienced. Don't try this at home, but just to prove a point, on a smooth surface (garage), you can easily turn the wheels with one finger while the car is completely still. Amazing!

You know, that's not a good thing ... that's artifical. You need some steering feedback.
