Cars arriving in St. Louis area today
FYI for all you St. Louis folks.....my dealer told me this afternoon that cars were dropping all over town today. Apparently Lou Fusz got 3 today (don't know if they are pre-orders), Bommarito in Elliville got one, Bommarito in St. Peters got another one (red, 6spd, cloth...not a pre-order), and a co-worker of BOOSTD 7's (Ryan) had his arrive at Auffenberg over in IL today.
Now if mine would just show up.......
I called MNAO today, and after sitting on hold for about 20 minutes (I'm getting really good at WAITING on Mazda), some flamer told me that the ETA to the dealership was the second week in August. I can't stand this waiting!!!

The black one at Bommarito actually came in on Wednesday of last week. I don't think there is any rhyme or reason to when they show up.
They told me that sometimes the trucks even deliver cars in the middle of the night.

More are in! I drove by Bommarito St. Peters this morning around 7:50, and there were two transport vehicles parked on the outer road. I counted 6 RX-8's. I don't know if all 6 were being unloaded there or if some may go to other dealerships, but either way teh pace is picking up! Looked like 1 black, and the other 5 Tit and the other grey. No red, blue, green, or yellow.

We got two in at Auffenberg and delivered both of them on 7/25/03. A Titanium and a Velocity Red both to St Louis Pre-Sold customers. Needless to say they are two of the happiest people in St Louis Today! The wait for them is finally over.

blkrx8 - Matthew gave me a drive in his Titanium today. He is very very happy, and says that Auffenberg definately treated him right ... my thanks to you for looking out for the customer.
I was hoping that blue one that arrived at Fusz today was Heather's (my girlfriend), but sadly to say it's not. Fusz does have a silver/black on the lot now for sale though.

I don't think they dropped any at Bommarito this morning. I drove by there after work and they have the black one sitting out front, but didn't see any other cars. I think they might have the red one in the showroom.

I dropped by also. The red one was in the showroom. Looked nice but didn't get to see the mica effects very well in the filtered light inside. From what I was told, the red one arrived yesterday but stayed in back (PDI) until today, so they could have received one or more that hasn't made it out of prep yet, I should have asked my saleperson. Or thier internet sales rep could keep us all updated! Both the black and red have standard exteriors, I'm anxious to see one with the appearance package and rear spoiler. The one in the brochure with them looks great!

I went out there on Saturday morning and drove the black one. It was AWESOME!!! I am too brain dead right now (1:00am) to give a full review, but it was everything I had hoped for, with the exception of the shitty A/C.
ELX13.....and others who are waiting impatiently...go out and drive it. It will pacify you for a few days.

I wonder if there are just technical problems on some cars. Reading all of the threads on this forum, it sounds like some of the cars have great A/C and some don't.

Well, I finally got one, and LOVE it! Sick of waiting for Mazda to get their act together, I bought the Titanium GT w/Nav at Bommarito South County, and cancelled my pre-order.
The only regret I have is that I kind of screwed Bommarito Ellisville, where my preorder was. No, I take that back, Mazda screwed them by holding my car in port for two months. They were obviously disappointed, but did not give me any hassle about refunding the deposit.
So I'd like to mention that if anyone is in the market for a Red RX-8, a preorder or another new Mazda, my sales rep Greg Kimbrell and the sales manager, Steve McNorton, at Bommarito Ellisville were both great to work with, and I recommend them wholeheartedly. If you do happen to pay them a visit, please tell them Steve Burkett sent you.
Now as far as the car - I owned '93 RX-7 for several years, and took it from stock to mildly modified (13.0 1/4 mile, full autocross suspension) while I owned it. The RX-8 is obviously down on power relatively speaking, but it is an absolute pleasure to drive, plenty fast enough to be exciting, and has a much smoother, more linear acceleration. The handling is absolutely awesome though. I know the ultimate lateral grip isn't as good, but it feels every bit as responsive, controllable and balanced as my RX-7. Body roll is much more noticeable, but doesn't feel like it is taking away from the car's cornering ability. My only complaint so far is excessive nose dive coming off throttle and a little bit of bounce, I think that a little more shock would really make this car a killer.
Can't wait to get it out to a track day or autocross, it's turning heads like crazy. Anyway, that's all I have to say at the moment, the car is as good or better in almost every way than I expected.

All of theses different assessments of the A/C on here from everybody are probably just each person's individual opinions about how sufficient it should be, or what they're used to. I am used to my Millenia A/C which on the hottest of days keeps me very cool with the recirc on and the blower on the lowest setting. I'm really going to be upset if I have to have that blower blasting just to keep cool.

I've been stopping by the Bommorito South County (STL) after work for a couple of weeks and was pleasently supprised to see a black 8 out front when I stopped by on Monday night. It looks great, and I can't wait to give it a spin.
