Angry All those in DesMoines!

I just received this e-mail after being promised my car this week not more than 1 week ago! Very frustrating!!!

Jeff, bad news first and then good news. According to our inventory sheets your vehicle along with all RX8's were pushed back two weeks to the second week of August. The good news is that today we received our first RX8 and it had the same arrival date as yours. Unfortunately this means that Mazda is not very accurate on their predictions. Hopefully your car is on its way but it still could be a couple of weeks. According to one of our regional reps, there has been transportation issues due to the low ground clearance of the car and getting them on the transports. So keep your fingers crossed and hopefully the next time you hear from me will be to tell you your cars is here. Thanks for your patience

Oh well, I think Mazda has screwed this whole pre-order thing up!
By the way aren't there other cars out there with lower ground clearances!?!?!?

Thanks for the news! My red RX-8 should be in the "first shipment" to Ramsey, also. I was the first one on their list for the RX-8, so I hope it will at least be one of the early ones. Wish I'd driven by there on my way home from work tonight. Congratulations to RX8MAN04! drj400m, let's keep our fingers crossed!

My wife happended to see the transport going down the street yesterday with a yellow RX-8 on the back. She talked to the driver and confirmed that they have started delivering 8's around the Midwest out of KC. They are railed from Tacoma to KC and then truck to dealers. They are expecting 51 8's in first batch and as of yesterday 36 had arrived by rail -- still waiting for the rest that have left Tacoma.

Now get this -- the transport driver was able to check my VIN -- yes MAZDA if you are listening -- how many times have I called to get a status and you tell me nothing -- The truck driver can get the info -- but YOU can't

My VIN is not on the list of 51 cars WHAT!!! I pre-ordered on DAY ONE and have Vin 00852 and my car is still stitting at the port in Tacoma -- eventhough Mazda is still telling me July Week 4 delivery (last day of Week 4 is today) and unless they put it on an airplane to Omaha it isn't going to get here anytime soon.

My guess would be that all your port options are what is slowing down your car.

I'm up here in Rochester, MN and I was quoted 2nd week of August on a preorder car I claimed after someone cancelled. I cancelled the accessories the original customer had ordered and now I'm getting my car today or Monday.

Rumor has it that some of the accessories are in high demand and some ports are only getting a few of them at a time.

The only port options are the appearance and rotary accent packages. I was told these would not impact delivery times -- but I was also told July week 2 delivery

I have all the other accessories sitting on my workbench waiting to be installed. Everything looks easy except for the exhaust finishers -- have to remove the rear bumper I am going to make the dealer put that on for me to make up for all this frustration.

drj400m, I wonder if my car is on the same carrier? My car was released from port last week, and should be here in Rochester, MN sometime this week.

I'm going crazy waiting.

I drove by Ramsey's on Sunday evening 7/27, saw 2 reds, 2 titaniums, and 1 black. All were dropped off over the weekend, and the dealer hadn't been informed in advance. My red one was one of them, and I'll pick it up Wednesday, 7/30. It wasn't quite ready this afternoon. The Ramsey people have been great to work with, by the way.

Smile Mine was the titanium

I finally was able to pick it up tonight. I live approx. 2 hrs west. I drove it home and it is fun to drive. The shifting will take some time getting used to (I am used to the Miata). It should be fun after I break it in!!! I am driving to Chicago this weekend so i should have it broken in by the ride home.

Kinda funny!

I just received a return e-mail from an e-mail I sent to Mazda orders last week!
Hello Jeffrey,

Thank you for contacting Mazda North American Operations. I appreciate
the opportunity to respond to you.

Our system indicates your RX-8 is expected to be at your local Mazda
dealership during the first week of August. Please keep in mind that
this is only an estimated time.

We hope to have you behind the wheels of your RX-8 very soon.

What is comical is that I picked up my car on Tuesday of this week!
