OK, I ran out to check a few places in Hoffman Estates. All these places are close to I90 & Barrington Rd for easy access. If we want to keep the prices down, Schaumburg sites would be out of the way or have traffic problems due to the Mall traffic.
What do you think?

Rendezvous Bar & Grill Inc
1624 W Algonquin Rd
Hoffman Est, IL 60195-1587
Phone: (847) 991-9807 Map
(Small Bar - Limited Seating but it's Monday nite)

Jake's Pizza
1726 W Algonquin Rd
Hoffman Est, IL 60195-1573
Phone: (847) 934-8400 Map
(Closes at 11:00 but Good Pizza - Has my vote)

Neighborhood Inn
2322 Hassell Rd
Hoffman Est, IL 60195-2103
Phone: (847) 843-8048 Map
(The name describes it - plenty seating)

Poplar Creek Bowl
2354 W Higgins Rd
Hoffman Est, IL 60195-2413
Phone: (847) 310-9585 Map
(The name describes it - Big place - Pool also, I think)

I *think* I'll have access to a vehicle, but not 100% sure. It'll be either a Camry or an Avalon. I don't think it will be a problem. I'm staying in Woodale, off Irving Park Rd. Woodfield works for me. I don't have a preference as to where in the burbs, they're all cold to me.

But it would be cool to meet someplace that's fun.

Lol, thanks!!

My sister hates hearing me talk about the car and she'd probably go nuts at a meet, but I'll invite her anyway. Another friend of the family may be coming too. I'm definitely game, but their attendance depends on what's going on and how bad they want to get out of the house.

And I'm with Ajax - ya'll go ahead and do the planning and I'll show up fashionable late.

If it turns out to be in Hoffman Estates, I can pick someone up anywhere down the Edens or 294 corridor as far south as Irving Park Road or there abouts.

Chicago Indoor Racing is cool, but it is kinda expensive, just FYI. Also, I don't like that idea 'cause I live three blocks from there and Sakura won't get a proper workout that night!

That is, if I have Sakura. She may be in the shop that week getting a new wheels and a dipstick tube warmer, or whatever it is that gets rid of the capuchino oil issue.

From mention of the bars for the downtown meet, I'm taking it this is a more social event. My building's garage is directly at the intersection of State and Rush, and if you have a receipt from one of the many bars/restaurants in the neighborhood parking is free.

My vote is for Chicago Indoor Racing - would be fun to see everyone and have a go of it on the race track. See if my Skip Barber lessons are still in me somewhere.

I could suggest some places, but there are no less than a half dozen right there, and restaurants also. Truth is, it's a very touristy area, but there are some places to go: an irish pub, tequila bar, sushi/japanese, etc...and right behind my building a block away is the classic Dave and Buster's - which this group seems to like going to.

If we're talking about going into Lincoln Park/Wrigleyville than parking lots will get more sparse than in the Near North part of town where I am, or where we've met in the past.

Yeah- that area around Rush and Division has put a dent in my liver on countless occasions... so many bars, so little time

Yep- it's normal, and doesn't hurt anything, but can make it a pain to read the dipstick when the gunk builds up. About a year ago they came out with a "fix" that keeps the crap from building up on the dipstick- basically an dipstick tube condom that isolates the stick from where the gunk is formed. Here's the service bulletin that explains it, and the fix.

http://www.finishlineperformance.com...09-05-1450.pdf

I personally find the gunk a great excuse for a 30 minute high RPM, high speed run to burn off the built up moisture .

We've been to Downers Grove. Back in September, I think. Portillo's on Butterfield.
