How much have you run with instructors at RA?

I had an instructor with me for 2 full days riding on me for every lap. It makes a big difference having someone with you to tell you where you are f***ing up.
Pretty much the same here, I had one for pretty much the whole Fbody thing before, and it did make a huge difference. I'm gonna concentrate on my shifting the next time I head up there, that and enter/exit speeds.

I was hitting about 123 or maybe a little more before turn 1 and the same before turn 5 and turn 12. I was running with the bend (no kink) so that might have slowed me down from 9-12. I was also usually passing slower cars on that stretch because I would run up on people from 8 to 9 and the first passing zone was after the kink.
I was in a novice group and there were some slowpokes in my run group.

I should be quicker next time out. That was also my first time on the track.

Someone said I might be able to hit 130mph on the straight at Grattan? What do you think?
Because of the Warrenty thing, I admit to nothing here except my experiences with the RX7. I will answer the first question. No, I haven't taken the 8 around RA. I only went there as a paying spectator. And that was weird having to pay to get in the track. I haven't had to do that since 1978. PM, Email or talk to me later.

Pics added to previous post.

Should we try to resurrect it? That Christian guy sounds like he is handing over the keys. We could recruit a bunch of RX-7 guys in.

Like I said, I'm know someone with free webspace and V vulletin license that we could use (at least for the next year).

We could set up a new RC3 website and include RX7 and RX8 folks.

I'm also a supermoderator for another local club so I have some experience running the software and organizing things.

What do you all think?
Machan, you should talk to alnielsen. He knows Christian and was part of the club (I think, feel free to correct me if I'm wrong). Tho do you really think we need another forum? I've put in a request for a subforum here already. We'll see what the mods say.....Zoom, where are ya? Still working on that ridiculous post count issue? :D

Think about Chicagosportscar.net. We had probably 50 members there and didn't have enough posts and contents to keep it alive. You and I had more posts than most of the other members in fact.

Here on RX-8 Club there is enough content to get everybody logged in every day. And if we keep most of our posts in this thread, it is easy for people to see what's going on with one click of their mouse. Of course it we had a Chicago sub-forum that would be even better although I don't mind post whoring it up in this thread.

Perhaps, if it gets too big we can have RedSheDevil create a new one each month...

We still need a logo or something for our sigs or avatars
We could get the logo from the old RC3 splash page. It was a picture in blue (?) of the chicago skyline.
Why reinvent the wheel.

No, but the 7 guys would to have it somewhere. Hell they built the site. They have the domain name. We would need that also.

The reason I think we should have our own website rather than use RX8club is, It is a rotory club not exclucive to the RX8. This is the same argument I had with the 7's. Someday, hopefully, there will be RX9's, RX10's, etc. and they won't want to be going to the RX8Club to find out what is happening around Chicago. The Tri-State area around Chicago is big enought to support a club. I've also been thinking about fund raising. We could use CafePress to generate funds for misc. expences such as running a website. And also sponsor ship/loaned space at a location such as A-Spec or DriftCity

More Random Thoughts:
With a secure board, we could share real names, IM names, email addresses, have a place to share photos, place to store avatars......

There are other good reasons I cann't think of at the moment.

When I go in for my fuel tank explosion, er, um I mean recall work next week I was gonna ask the dealership if they wanted to give away any stuff. Guy321 did this at his dealership and got hats, shirts, and other stuff.

As far as creating another forum, it's taking a lot of time just to keep this board and email list updated. I'm not complaining by any means, but whoever is going to take this on had better have a lot of time to devote or it will fall by the wayside liek the others.

Hey Machan, any more interest in the Schaumburg meet?

BTW, my parents think I'm either 1) nuts, 2) made up a whole bunch of "imaginary car people" to hang out with, or 3) both! :D

Given the price of gas , Schaumburg would be closer and more doable. I travel nationaly for work, but I'm going to be "sequestered" downtown Sept 12-16. So if the Rock 'n Roll McDonalds could be an option that week, I'm in!

You are in luck! Rock and Roll is scheduled for Tuesday, Sept 13th! Check the first post in this thread (it's the only one I update regularly) ...
