Just bought my 04 black 8 on Saturday. Looking for some interesting roads to help speed up the break-in period

This is a huge annual event (this is the third) that would be perfect to introduce you into the rotary world. There's going to be tons of things to do including two autocross tracks, drag racing and a road event (though that has to be registered seperately). Just give yourself a few hundred miles this week and the cruise down will help with the rest.

Where do you watch Gator games around here?

Any twisty roads to drive on in the area?

Awesome... another Gator! Class of '92 here. I have the football games on at my house thanks to DirecTV & ESPN Gameplan... hoops I usually find a sportsbar since they're blacked out on Sunshine. I'll let you know when we're having our football parties... usually for the home opener and a couple more. What brought you up the this area? I moved up about 3 years ago from South Florida.

There are a few fun roads back in the cornfields by my house, but they're pretty short (the locals call it the "race track"). I've found a few others going up to Wisconsin on the way to Lake Geneva. I've looked for some on my commute to Schaumburg, but besides Algonquin rd during non-rush hours, there's not much fun to be had.

You need to travel a little to get to the interesting roads. The closest ones are near the rivers. The Rock River south of Rockford and the Great River Road along the Missisippi River have good roads. You can go north into Wisconsin, the Kettle Moraine area has lots of good roads. The Fox River area could be good except it is too close to Chicago and has too much traffic.
I just thought of an other one I traveled, in a minivan. The Rude River in SE corner of Minnesota.

Here is a fun loop in Chicagoland:

Start at the intersection of Rt. 83, Archer Rd. (Rt 171) and 107th St.

Head North (East) on Archer. After about a mile and a half, you should see signs for the varios Palos Hills forest preserves on your right, as well as the turn off for 95th St.

Go right on 95th St.

Follow 95th St. until you get to LaGrange Rd. (96th Ave)

Go right on LaGrange Rd.

Go about a mile and a half until you get to 107th

Go right on 107th St.

Follow 107th until you get back to where you started from.

Go right on to Archer Ave.

Rinse and Repeat

I recommend driving the loop at slow speeds once or twice to get a feel for it, and to check for police. There are deer in the woods, so I recommend this only during the day. The posted speed limits are actually pretty fast...going 10 over is really fun and minimizes accidents with deer or police.

I forgot about this one. Sheridan Rd. near the lake front in the northern suburbs can be very fun in the early (2 AM) morning when there isn't any traffic.

After organizing my fair share of Fall Color Tours for the Miata club several years ago, I learned from experience that you really need to go north of the border. Up into Wisconsin.

The best roads we found were not near Lake Geneva, but outside New Ulm. Boy, I wish I had kept all those route instructions from years ago!

That's down in my neck of the woods (no pun). Drove down Archer earlier today. There are quite a few forest preserves and it's pretty but just wish it was a longer drive.
