Point taken and i agree.... this would be better for our tuning purposes. The dyno type was just something i happend to notice when i was on thier page.

What does tunning have to do with the type of dyno? Doesnt it show the same factors in a slightly different scale?

a dynojet can apply load to the vehicle so the tuning would be done under more "realistic" conditions on the car and the motor.

Looks like I'll have a new tranny for the Dyno Day. 2nd gear is grinding bad when I shift into it at high RPM's. The dealer said it could be a worn synchro. The dealer said it's a hit or miss with MNAO on the warranty work, he said if the syncros show signs of power shifting they won't cover it. They said if the synchros look worn or have broken teeth that is a sure sign of power shifting. He said the tranny is not made for shifting fast, I asked him to show me in the manual where it says how fast to shift "it doesn't". We'll see what happens, the dealer is cool and he said he will do what he can to help me out. No matter what I'll fight Mazda on this.

P&L will rent us the dyno for $750 / day for that weekend. They are available. Let me know. That's just dyno rental, but if MM is coming to tune, then we won't need their tuner.

Performance Autowerks would be 25 bucks cheaper if we get 10 people. I also like the 10 person limit, makes for a short day when you have a 5 hour drive back home. So, Performance Autowerks still has my vote. Whatever the group decides though.

Yes, this dyno day will only happen if MM comes. If not then we might have to go to P&L since they are the only guys in the area that can tune the AP. How good they are I don't Know.

MM already has this on his calendar! He is all but here. However, we have not worked out the costs yet. He is on a trip to Florida right now and he won't be back until Sunday. We are goin to talk when he gets back and we will get the final details worked out at that time.

Right now, I just need more information from MM so that we can book the right shop for what we need. That might be Performance Autowerks or it may be P&L. It just depends on the tuning that needs to be done. P&L is willing to basically give us a dyno for the entire day and we can tune till our hearts desire. Performance Autowerks is cheaper but they kind of want it to be three pulls and your done. With the number of people who want MM tunes P&L might be better.

On Monday I will post up what options we have and the costs associated with them so that we can all make the decision. Once a decision is made I will book the shop.

Please hang with me guys. There are a lot of factors to consider and I am doing my best.

They don't rent it out by the hour, half day or full day? That sucks, I think MM will need for then three pulls to properly dial us in. Especially since some of us may want two maps, one for DD and another for the track You may want to expand your search of shops. Like I said before I found a few in Madison that go for $650 for 8 hours or $400 for 4 hours.

I need enough time to do about 6 pulls for an N/A car and 10 or 12 for an FI car.

Actually, I get home Tuesday - I'll be calling you from the track, TDiddy.

I have 35K on original Spark Plugs and Coils. Do you recomend I get new plugs? I'll check the coils, if they have the white burnt residue I should replace them right? How About wires?

Hmmm... i would love to buy a lightened flywheel from ya and have ya install it ray, but i am thinkin i will be strapped for cash that weekend... between gas, dyno fees, cost of supporting MM for the weekend, His tuning fee, and buying an AP from him the same weekend. I am thinking i will have 1200.00 tied up in this weekend already. but then again, a direct port nitrous install by the man himself would be kinda cool to see preformd on my own car.

Charles,

I checked and the first two coils had the white burnt marks on the bottom. I guess I should replace all four as well as plugs (due to mileage). What about the wires? If I do replace them which ones should I get?

After 30k miles I would suggest replacing the plugs, coils, and wires. Its like a 30k mile tuneup.

I have a set of almost new Taylor 10mm plug wires. They are blue and I can bring them to the dyno just in case anybody wants them. I also have an RX8Store HF cat with all the hardware, a Sohn oil adapter, and a set of Mazsport motor mounts that I can bring if anybody is looking for any of that stuff. I was planning on posting a forsale thread but if anybody wants any of it just let me know. I'm sure Charles or myself can help you install any of it right there at the meet.
