Mac is just messin with you. We are a pretty laid back bunch as long as somebody isn't a true A-hole. Which you don't strike me as one of those. After all, you drive a silver 8. We are brave souls - despite the curse, we soldier on.

 

We're all joking. Once you meet Mac in person, you'll realize he's the not temperamental a-hole everyone on here thinks he is...that is unless you fit into the following:
1. Drive a semi and try to push him out of his lane
2. Drive a 240SX at the track with passengers snuck into the back seat
3. Drive a pickup truck and think you'll cut him off at the tolls

There's more, but that's what comes to mind...

 

In about 2 weeks we'll all get to meet in person and thats when the real joking will begin...

Hey guys - quick opinion question - I got a CEL while driving home tonight in the balmy 14 degree weather - already checked the gas cap, it's fine. Trying to decide whether to reset the ECU either with the brake pedal & odometer techniques and possibly the battery unhook, OR, to swing into the dealer tomorrow and have them check it and reset it. Any opinions? BTW, no engine mods (other than a cat back). Thanks!

 

Maybe a misfire with the weather? Other than that I really don't know what to say.

 

That's kinda what I was thinking - would you reset the ECU or have the dealer check it and clear it?

 

autozone type places generally read them for free. if not one of them the dealership. dont reset it without knowing what it was that triggered it.

 

Thanks for the advice Blue and Mac - I was leaning toward having the dealer check it anyway - the more I read about the ECU reset, the more I read about all the relearning issues and everything related to that as well. (not to mention not know exactly what happened)

 

Good idea, esp. if the car is still under warranty, might as well have the dealership check it out and clear it for free.

 

Well it's under extended warranty - but I'm at 54k - but maybe I can get them to check it for free - the GM's a friend of mine...

There are plenty of full ones in the mini fridge in the garage. Anyway, I think the pub allows minors because its a restaurant.
