Chicago area '8 owners!
Hi!
Evolv Chicago appears to be no more and nobody has really stepped up to restart the local group...
Well, I guess I'll give it a shot.
Any interest in doing any hang outs, tool sharing or garage days?
I have two compression testers (RCT-V5 and my own home-brew unit) as well as a decent set of the usual mechanics tools. I'm willing to help with basic tasks (general maintenance items like oil changes, brakes, etc) for donations of pizza and hard ciders.
Also, for anybody not already involved with the local motorsports offerings, I highly encourage you to do that. I'd love to see a bunch of us show up at the Tri-State Sportscar Council and SCCA autocrosses as well as the SCCA PDX/trackday events. (separate thread on this soon)

Just going to bump this back up to the top.
I still have my compression testers, tools and garage. If you need any help with your '8 and you can limp it to Chicago's Logan Square neighborhood, shoot me a PM and we can work out the details.

Hello all. I am from Spain, and I am currently living in Chicago. I am a little new here so I do not know meetings apart from the Authoban meetings. I just bought my Rx8 yesterday, after years lookig.! I am very interested in hangout and learn a little bit more about this special engine/car.

Do you know any garage in Chicago where they can take care of my rx8 nicely? I want to make an inspection to make sure that everything is alright and that there is nothing about to break that can potentially mess everything up! Also, I want to know where to go if any issue comes up!
Thank you very much!!

Hello, Jose!
What area of Chicago are you in? I'm sort of between the neighborhoods of Logan Square and Avondale.
I do most of the work on my car myself and my favorite garage closed this year so I don't have any recommendations aside from avoiding Autobarn City Mazda. Their service manager doesn't treat his staff very well and it shows.
You might want to try https://importmotorsportchicago.com/

My question is can we just get some cones, throw up a course in a parking lot and autocross? All the SCCA stuff got cancelled this year and I am just pondering getting a couple buddies together and try it ourselves.

What's up guys, just getting subbed on here. Used to be in Avondale too, now few miles away in Old Irving Park. @NotAPreppie I'm not logged on here very often these days but I've seen your posts and didn't know you were a Chi guy too -- that's awesome. I see you have an mx-5, I wonder if it was you I saw getting on 90/94 at Fullerton awhile back. Whoever it was noticed me in my 8 right behind and chirped tires and ripped around the corner, and I followed suit That was funny and fun

I finally have a stormy blue MT grand touring with stock nav. I don't think there's more than 2 or 3 in the country.
