Yeah I live in clifton and some decided to key FU onto my fender then proceed to punch it in. Woke up to that a few weeks ago. A bunch of haters that instead of respecting someone for earning something nice just want to destroy what people work for.

So Fuel was closed today for some reason (nothing posted). There was a nice Porsche Carrera GT in attendance (although the color wasn't quite my cup of tea).

Mazda should have my new engine installed and I will be back in business sometime next week, sorry I have missed Fuel, the time we went we had a great time car shoping in our heads. Any advice on breaking the new Renesis in correctly so I don't go through a second engine, lol.

Autocross was awesome! For any of you who have not yet experienced this you need to give it a shot.

Just got back from a road trip this weekend.
drove all the way Portland Maine, Boston, Providence, and Niagara Falls.

Now, I gotta do all the catching up at work, and then gonna be gone for another week next week to Colorado.

Hope they'll have Fuel reopen this weekend, I'm planning on coming.

Next year, hope i'll be ready (both mind set and driving... i'm new to stick...) for autocross...

Tact, you'll have stick driving down by next season. I have to tell you, the folks in the Cincy region SCCA are great for your first time out. They take care of you, give all the advice you want to take and just allow you to have a great time. I will definitely be back next season as my work/vacation schedule permits. Have to get in on those cheap Mazdaspeed Motorsports goodies!

I will probably pay for membership for SCCA next year, so that i'll be committed to autox.

btw, when do you guys change from summer tires?

I have cheap ADR Rims with even cheaper all season tires,
(probably they won't do any good in snow, but least better in colder temp than summer tires.)
and don't know when I should change...

my plan is to wear out the cheap tires this winter, and buy winter tires next year.

any thoughts?

Someone hit my fiancee's car in our parking lot about 18 months ago - no note. Scuffed up the left rear bumper.

Someone hit my car in our parking lot about 3 months ago - no note. Scuffed up my left rear bumper.

Someone hit my fiancee's car in our parking lot (again) a couple weeks ago - no note. In fact, I think she was hit in the rear bumper AND someone doored the !*$% out of her car in the same day. The first couple times, we didn't fix it because the estimates were in the $400-$600 range and we just didn't have the cash flow with the wedding in the queue. This time it was so bad we filed a police report and made a claim on it.

I don't know why we seem to be magnets for such jerks - some people are just animals. All I can do is hope that karma gets these people in a big way.

I kind of feel the same way about being a magnet. I don't know if it's having a shiny car, having cars that people don't really know what they are, or what. Just pisses me off when I see Mercedes parked all kinds of ways without a scratch, and I take the time to park away from everyone and still get bumps and scrapes. I need one of those alarms systems that fries anyone who gets too close.

@Tact, I think the normal cutoff for changing tires is when the temperature is consistently below 40 degrees. IIRC that's when summer tires get stiff. It really comes down to your personal preference though, and what you feel safe with. I ran my Speed6 with the stock tires (which were summer types) through two winters with no problems. You just have to adjust your driving to suit.

I changed once it snowed, but I already had all-seasons. Generally it's like Chief said, consistently below 40. I have snows on my stock wheels, but now that my wife has a new car, I'll be driving the old beater for winter. I'll have to think about it, but I might be willing to sell my snow set. Just got her car last night, so I haven't really figured everything out yet.

Oh and since I know Chief will ask, no Speed 3 We decided the timing and budget weren't right yet. She fell in love with a Freelander, so that's what she got. 03 Land Rover Freelander w/54k on it 7500 out the door. She's happy, so I'm happy, plus it gives us more money to play with. I'll be able to go to the track next year for sure now

congrats for your (wife's) new ride.

although I was not very big fun of SUVs, my wife has Toyota Highlander, and I gotta admit, it's nice to have a car with a lot of room....
and most importantly,

happy wife = happy life

anyhow, thanks for the advices.
I guess I just gonna wait till I come back from my trip next week, and see how the weather is like...

Congrats on the new ride for your wife. You guys have it right, if your wife is happy then everyone in the house is happy. Although sometimes I have a tendency to make her unhappy even though I know better.

Good to hear there will be some folks from here doing autocross etc next year. Always nice when you know people, although I did recognize a few last weekend that I have seen at Fuel.

I'm planning on being there, hopefully with a good performance alignment. Might be able to talk the wife into running her 8 as well, I'll have to work on her.

I will be there in the M3 most likely. For those that have never autocrossed you should really come out and give it a try. Especially if you drive an RX8. The 8's do very well and help you to appreciate the car much more in its intended environment.

She was out tonight and got a couple of compliments on the 8. So she can't say anything I did to it was bad!

Don't let it throw you, sometimes I think I should change my screenname to Thread Killer for the number of threads that grow dormant after I post! I was just going to say how dead it has been here. I've been busy enjoying the Miata, getting ready for the fun run this Sunday. I expect to do somewhat better after getting a good alignment today. The rears were set for toe out which explains the tail twitchiness I felt. She'll still throw the rear out under a heavy foot but it is more controllable.

Hmmm, I might have to make it out to River Downs this weekend as well. We'll see.

On a side note the Holiday Auto Theater is doing their annual "Terror at the Drive-In" this weekend. The lineup includes: Paranormal Activity 2, Let Me In, Evil Dead, and Jackass 3D. I'll be there Saturday night for sure if anyone wants to meet up. If you want to go plan on getting there early it fills up pretty quick. Times and directions can be found here: http://www.holidayautotheatre.com/
