Since the 8 has been sitting in the garage for the last couple weeks I started it up today. No problems starting but now I'm getting a CEL 3/4 tank of fuel but maybe just some vapor leak throwing a code? I'll probably drive it up to Advance so they can pull the code before I head to Kings.

We all need to meet during the Christmas downtime. Some warm, dry restaurant for breakfast on a Saturday morning. Maybe the Saturday between Christmas and New Years.
BTW: I had the 135 in the shop at Sweeney having them chase down a squeak coming from the rear shelf. They thought they had it but not quite. The loaner they gave me was a 328ix. What an appliance! Numb steering and a trashy sounding engine. That start/stop engine feature is brain dead. I figured out how to turn it off but you can't default it to off permanently. Glad I have a BMW with good old hydraulic steering.

Got my BHR kit almost a week late. Thanks, USPS. So I finally got it installed Saturday. Apparently it's helpful to read the instructions... because I didn't realize there were spacers until I already had it placed. Then I didn't realize you could bend the tabs that the existing wires were mounted on to get them out of the way of the plug wires. So it took a lot longer than it should've... but after several beers, the job got done. Compared to what it is now, my car definitely felt sluggish before... and my old spark plugs were corroded pretty badly.

The CEL misfire they said was caused by low battery. I guess on startup it did take a little longer to fire but it wasn't that bad.
The 8 doesn't like to sit I guess.

CEL came back. Not going to Kings. Anyone deal with Sweeney Mazda service? Kings has gone downhill. I no longer trust them.
Anyone know how to clear the code? Disconnect the battery?

If your stuck I know you can get an OBD2 bluetooth adaptor and you can clear it with the Torque app on your phone.

Happy new year to everyone. Been keeping up on what's been going on on here but haven't been posting. Hope all is well. Is it considered being a traitor if you totaled your 8 instead of selling? 😔

Thanks Tact. I hope so too. Of course it won't be too difficult, since due to either car problems or not being home I got to drive absolutely zero events last year. I just hope MazdaMotorsports doesn't cut me off completely (they're asking for results).

Hey I'm a little new here and I was wondering exactly what kind of event or in these areas. I just got back from overseas not to long ago and I've started to finally work on my rx8. I would love to know about any meets or maybe even track days. I'm no stranger to driving considering I had to drive from California to Fort Knox. So just hit me up

Also feel free to join Ohio Rotaries for some events too this coming year Ohio Rotaries • Index page
I've been quiet due to working a lot of hours these past few months and with the weather bad been driving my Jeep as much as I can so Lucy can rest - she hit the 150k mile mark before Xmas and deserves some kindness. Also we got a 1990 Miata to play with so I have turned to the dark side a bit - I do love the convertible though - just needs a 13b swap! I lucked upon a factory wingless trunk lid last month and also Santa brought me a Cobb AP so 2014 will have Lucy running better and her looks will change some - but don't worry - she will still keep her rice, lmao.
Anyone have any POSITIVE tuning experience with your 8's with the Cobb from any local shops? I am not wanting to go the MM route and want some face-to-face contact with the tuner and while there are some GREAT write-up here about doing the tuning myself and I have all the software I would rather not do something stupid and blow this tired engine just quite yet Just looking to alleviate some issues I know my mid-pipe and exhaust are compounding beyond the cel.
Stay Warm out there friends!

Oh hai errybody
Not on much anymore. Been busy.
Starting a new job towards the end of the month, the wife totalled the Freelander (no one was hurt, and that headache is gone!) and we picked up a clean 04 Acura TL to replace it.
Welcome Curly. A lot of us have moved on from the RX8, but there is still some action and i see more of them on the road now than i did when i had mine.
Wendy: MM is still your best bet for tuning. Unless you want to drive to Texas. Give Defined a call, they may be willing to give it a shot, but the reality is, there really aren't many rx8 tuners period. Defined is as close to a local rotary shop there is.
Happy New Year to the rest of you dudes.
