Once it's on the ground, you'll have to come out with us.

This sounds like a blast. I'd be up for exploring some roads north of Cincy, around Dayton, or up here in Columbus. Let me know if you guys are planning to come up here!

On a sadder note, I got a call from a friend back home that said she saw a black 8 wrecked up around West Chester/Mason area. Hoping it wasn't Allen or any of the rest of you.

You need to head southeast my friend. The roads around Hocking Hills are fantastic. We'll likely make it up there at some point. I'll let you know when we do.

Finally got around to swapping out the springs on the BC coilovers for the 8. Having a bench vise made all the difference, only took an hour to do all four. The rest of the day was spent putting the Miata back together, almost done with her. Would have been done but tonight was date night, and you don't mess with that!

Put the front coilovers on the 8 yesterday, couldn't finish because I was taken out to dinner. After looking things over today, decided it was going to be sitting too low so I increased the length of the rears before installing them. After those were in went back and raised the fronts the same amount. Looks good now, but will have to wait for some driving to see if things change (I preloaded the bushings when tightening things up so don't expect much change).

The 8 finally has a good suspension. Those softer springs were just what the BC coilovers needed, and the higher ride height looks better and is more functional. Now I just have to see what Robyn thinks!

She comes home after a drive, and said she thought she was driving a truck (this is the same woman who says the Miata is too low)! Yeah, drama queen. She'll get used to it, the last suspension was on for several years so it will take a bit before she acclimates.

Mike, you saying Robyn doesn't like her 8 riding like that?

I'm still trying to figure out how to lower the rear end down on mine by an inch or so to match the front. I don't dig the NASCAR look.

Anyone test drive a BRZ yet?

She only drove it about 6 miles total so she doesn't really have an idea yet. She mainly was giving me a hard time, since I told her I had jacked it up like an old muscle car. I could probably lower it 3/4" without too much trouble but I'd rather leave it as-is and see how things shake out.

Steve, did you get around to doing your Miata's brakes yet?

Steve, the S-techs... some do have the rake tendency with stock shocks. I will say Tact's car sits pretty level now with the Koni yellows on it, as when I had them it always did have that rake. I did notice that when I changed my springs out to a different brand, the car did have a more level appearance. Never measured it, but it did sit lower. Not sure that doing any kind of adjusting or compression will do anything for you.

BRZ needs more power... I think that it would be going backwards in terms of what you have in my opinion.

Not yet. It'll be in the garage for the winter soon so next March put on new rotors and pads.

James, the S2 does have a different shock mount in the rear by about an inch. I thought about yellows but not in the cards right now.

Change springs to Sprint, Pedders, Megan or RSR. That will lower and level you on the cheap.

Here's the Pedder's on an S2

my s-techs never had a rake with stock shocks. It's the different spring perch that is making Steve's car sit like that. He'll need s2 specific rear springs or a shock replacement with s1 shocks to get it to sit properly

Mike: glad the new springs are an improvement. Just drop it on the ground for Robyn, i'm sure she'll love the complete opposite of what you've already done.

Good point Fuz forgot about that. Steve just save up and buy some cheap coilovers, you don't race it anyway so some Megans will suffice.

I had to listen to her complain about scraping every time she went out of the drive with someone in the back seat, so no.

Who's for Fuel tomorrow? Robyn and I will be there before we leave for our trip. I'm hoping for a spot in the lot again.

Wanted to make it FUEL this morning but it wasn't in the cards. Wheels took longer than expected, although I am happy with the result. The wheels were in sad shape and had already been repainted by someone with the wrong type of paint.

Anyway here's the before and after... I replaced all 116 rivets with some nicer looking 12-pointers last night.

Actually made it to fuel, but it was after 12, and no one there... oh well I tried. Tire is still shredding, needs an alignment now- but I am happy with it.

That pictures sucks, he's some better ones.

Gorgeous wheels James. I was at Fuel earlier, we had to leave to come down to Savannah. I made sure we got there earlier than usual to get a parking spot, but there weren't any. By my usual time there were several available, but I didn't feel like moving.

I shot this on the street before we left:

New stance of the 8:

We got rear-ended yesterday by a bicycle rider while we were stopped waiting to make a left turn. Left a small scuff on the black part of the bumper. Dumbass was apparently trying to cut across the street while also checking out a girl on a bike. Guess the 8 was too small and blended in to the surroundings.

tRide height looks good Mike, should keep here from scraping everything.

James, the 994 looks great. Nice re-finsh on the wheels, and it's a good stance for the car.

Since you two are side profile pics, here's mine too. It's safe to say that I tuck the most tire. lol I'm sitting at a pretty typical track ride height though.

that pic makes the car look way better than it really is. The Toyo's do awesome as long as it's warm and dry. 1/2 life r-comps are barely groved slicks pretty much. I just had them on for a weekend while i cleaned the stock wheels.
