Utah?
Guys, I just got home and it's too dark for good pictures, but after I shower and change I'll try and snap one with artificial light.
The drive home was AWESOME. The sound isn't really loud, but it's deeper, throatier, more robust. You can FEEL it more. You guys with similar exhausts know what I'm talking about. At highway speeds, you can tell it's a tad louder, but the stereo easily drowns it out.
The exhaust tips are larger and they fill the openings in the bumper better than the stock tips. One side is just a tad higher than the other, I noticed tonight, so I'm going get that adjusted. They have "MAZDASPEED" engraved on them.
Those twin cans are just swimming in space under the car, where the OEM muffler used to be. The heat shield is HUGE for those things now!
I noticed that the exhaust stinks when I got home. I wonder if this is standard for all new exhausts?
They also did a reflash while I was there, the latest factory-ordered tweak that is supposed to prevent a power loss, though they couldn't tell me more than that. I'll have to look it up myself I suppose.
Tim, bose is right. It's a Mazda part so it doesn't affect the warranty at all, and it even comes with it's own warranty for parts and labor. In fact both the service manager and parts guy were asking me when I was going to buy the Mazdaspeed intake, LOL!
I'll be picking up my old exhaust from them tomorrow, when I take my Explorer to work. Bountiful Mazda is only a couple of miles from my office. They wrapped the tips in bubble wrap for me and have it stashed in the parts department. I managed to fit the new exhaust inside the 8 by taking it all out of the boxes. The pipe went in the trunk and the can assembly fit in the back seat, with a big fat coat thrown over the center console for padding. Mazda Bear sat on top and made sure the load didn't shift. But the stock exhaust is one piece (surprise!) and too dirty anyway to ride home in the 8.
I'll shoot a video clip soon, with sound, and either post it on U-tube or Photobucket.
All in all, a good day.

awesome man congrats, a new mod is always a blast. im sure the un even tips is an easy fix, done it myself 100 times on other cars in the past. I wish mine was stick so bad, Id love to mod it but I feel like im just polishing a turd with doing any mods to this thing and im too upsidown and have bad credit to upgrade to the manual
So this morning I drive the company pickup over to Bountifu Mazda to pick up my old exhaust, and afterwards I stop into the service bay to talk to them about leveling my new tips just a tad.
There is a black 8 in there, and the owner is a very attractive young lady talking to the other service writer.
I'm explaining why I want to bring my 8 back this afternoon, she overhears and turns to me, and says:
"Are you Jethro Tull?"
It's Enigmah!
We FINALLY got to meet, face to face! It was a good morning for Jethro.
She's a terrific lady, guys.

I told her we were trying to get together this month, and asked her nicely to attend a meet. She said she's been really busy and hasn't had much time for posting on the boards.
She's pretty classy, guys. I think she may be too good for the likes of common grunts like us...
Tim, I did snap a cell phone shot of her license plate- but she spells it differently than her user name.

pssh JT I am appalled, I am the epitome of class. I'm a suave and debonair as the come.

No worries, she'll come to a meet when she has the chance, I mean hell she rallied all the way to Sevenstock last year, SOLO. She's hardcore.

I'm just kidding ya...
But funny you should mention the Caddy. I saw one in Bountiful Mazda last night, in the serivce bay, having something worked on.
Why would they bring it to a Mazda dealer?

Sadly they don't have to install it until Monday
