Ok, here's what I'll do.
I'll give you and any other local who wants to try it, a free shot of 8 ounces- one tank's worth.
OR-
I just ordered a new case, so I'll sell anybody a quart bottle for six bucks (that covers the cost of the premix plus shipping charges). That will give you enough premix for 4 full tanks at 8 ounces per tank. You'll probably want to run a few tanks before you make up your mind on it anyway.
And I still have a few of the 4-ounce squeeze bottles. I'll toss one in with every quart of pre-mix until I run out.
Sound like a plan?

well i just filled up again (on chevron premium) and my engine light came on soon after, again. It sounds and runs fine though. Sighhh...
As for premixing no I dont. I've put in some octane booster 2 or 3 times before but didnt notice anything different. What kind of premix have you been using Jethro?

Most of those octane boosters are useless, there are only like two brands that actually work, Amsoil, or Lucas. The rest have been proven to either do nothing at all, and some lower the Octane.
Premixing is completely different. JT and myself both use Idemitsu, I can tell you why I premix but it's really just preference so don't take it as a rule. I do it because I think Mazda doesn't inject the oil in our housings in the best location, and Mazda also realized it, After looking through many engine rebuild threads the general consensus is the middle of the apex seals are the area's having the most wear. Hence the addition of the third oil injector in the middle of the rotor housing on the new '09 RX8's. The problem is that the rotor housings get so hot the oil burns off before it can properly lubricate the middle of the apex seal. Premixing ensures you get the right amount of oil in the housing when you need it. The fuel injectors will spray the gas/oil mixture in the housing and coat the entire chamber making sure you get the proper lubrication whether or not your OMP pump is working or not. And it's mixed in a small enough ratio that you won't be over oiling your engine.
That's what I have concluded after a lot of reading and research on premixing and the stock oiling system.

^ What bose said. Idemitsu is good stuff, formulated especially for rotaries.
I would emphasize that premixing is supposed to lessen long-term wear on every bearing surface exposed to the incoming fuel charge.
Personally I also noticed smoother startups after only one tankful. Better lubed seals mean better compression.
Don't use typical 2-stroke oils, with the blue dye. That dye is not compatible with our fuel filters and will clog them.

Much better for starting also because you don't have to worry about the oil that's being injected getting to full temp, cause you already have oil in the housing.
The other premix I hear is good is Pettite Racing's Protek-R, but I would bet it's Idemitsu in a different bottle. You can get it from Mazdatrix.com.

Why don't we meet somewhere on Saturday for a "premix" get together? Bose and I can do an old-time medicine show, except instead of snake oil, we'll sell the crowd on Idemitsu.
I'll bring a few quarts.
Maybe dinner afterwards, at La Frontera maybe? It's a dive, but you can get a cold Tecate', and the smothered burritos are heavenly...

hey jethro would you really be willing to sell a quart for now? Also where do you get that from? I want to start premixing and most of the things I see from ordering online is by the case which isnt a problem but its a bit expensive for me right now. in a month or 2 when I get caught up i should be fine though

I have used the Amsoil a few times, I have never seen this brand. How long does it take to arrive? I am going to order a case on Friday, I can hook you up TTT if jethro can't!!

Yes I'll really sell a quart. I've got about 8 quarts of Idemitsu on-hand now, and just ordered another case. I get it from Mazdatrix, it's about $55 plus shipping. The shipping charges depend on how fast you want it. I usually just have it send UPS Ground and it takes about a week. I'll sell you a quart for $6, which is enough for 4 tankfuls of gas.

The premix is the second item down from the top.

I'm down with that idea Jethro, I have some Idemitsu to spare I've still got 9 quarts. So I can sell a bottle or two.
La Frontera works for me. There are several locations around the valley, Sandy, West Valley, Salt Lake. I can get the exact address for any of them, cause my works fixes all their kitchen equipment.

The one in West Valley is closest to me; it's on 35th south, just west of Bangerter, on the north side of 35th. Afterwards, we could drive over to Granger Park on 36th west & 35th south, just north of Granger High. Lots of parking on the driving range there, accessed from the lot on 36th west.
If that's OK, we just need a day or time. Looks like either Saturday or Sunday should be dry and warm.
If you guys want a different location, thats ok with me too.
Darius, are you working nights now? What time are you awake?

I am in! I would like to try this brand. There is a La Puente on 900 E across from Hillcrest High, or my wife's aunt owns El Rancho Grande in Draper on 123 S and about 500 E. It is an excellent resurant.

I'm pretty sure that's La Puente your thinking about. I don't care which location we might want to meet at the one on 10600 South and State or 3300 south and 1250 east there we wouldn't be far from Sugarhouse park. I like Saturday around 2 or 3 so I can wash my car. Sunday I will be installing my ignition kit.
God I am tempted to put on my summer tires right now.

Well, you guys decide on a place then. As long as Mike and I can get a brew, I don't care where. Give Darius a chance to see it since it looks like he's only on-line at 3 in the morning, lol.
Weatherman says tonight's storm should be gone by Friday afternoon, so Saturday is still looking good.
I was just tracking my new case of premix on-line, and it's supposed to be here tomorrow. Pretty fast for UPS Ground!
Let's have a head count of those wanting to buy a bottle of premix, or those wanting a freebie 8 ounce shot. If you want the free shot, come with a gas tank at least 3/4 full.
Hey, you finally caught a break, 04! Good news indeed!
