Hey fellas. Good to have some new 8 enthusiasts! Hey, amoamare I had a 97' Prelude SH before my 05' 8 too! I admit I miss the v-tec sometimes and the 29-33mpg I got in my lude was nice but I love my Rx-8 too and cant imagine life without it!

p.s. I've got creamy stuff all over my dipstick too... that didnt sound good

 

Does any run F.I. or nitrous that you know of in our area?

 

Frost on the inside was probably condensation from your breath before you got out, and it froze on the inside. Just a guess. But it could also be the door seals, do you hear any road noise, wind or anything like that while driving?

No 8's around that I am aware of run any kind of FI. Talk to me around august.

 

Just talked to a guy at the dealer who said he just put a turbo in a friends 8 and it didn't go too well, I guess it didn't work with the computer (I know thats not what its called but I forgot what it is).

So the dealer is trying to see if they can fix my car under landcar powertrain warrenty that I have, the second gear is grinding again . The problem that we are having is that they want to know if it is happening under "normal driving conditions" which in my opinion is stupid because its a sports car, anyway I was just curios if anyone has had this problem or has any advise for me if the dealer cant get it fixed under warrenty i.e. aftermarket parts or mechanics that I can get?

 

The turbo won't run worth a **** if you don't get a tuning system, they need a e-manage, interceptor x, or the peanut of doom the Cobb Accessport.

The stock computer can't even comprehend what's needed for turbo. No matter what it needs to be tuned by someone who has a clue what's going on and a dealer is certainly not familiar with it.

As far as your transmission, mine grinds in second above 7000 rpm sometimes as well but the dealer may not be able to replicate the problem because in order to so they will need to break the law at least on city streets maybe they could on the highway but I don't know if they test that extensively so I would take the service tech and possibly the service writer for a drive and replicate it for them. As for aftermarket parts I don't know of any really. Mazsport for a while had a bell housing made for and rx7 tranny so it would meet up to the renesis, but they are out of business now. Don't know of any shops that are reputable around, I will ask around though and let you know. Sorry to hear about the trans problems again.

 

The Greddy turbo kit comes with e-manage/ maybe they put in a built up system and mot a turbo kit?

 

hey guys, I know this isnt the most active forum but I just moved to the sandy area from tampa, fl .Id love to have some sort of meet or something to get to know some other owners.
Unfortunatly its my only car right now (me and wife are sharing untill we can afford to get her a small suv) . I did purchase a set of snow tires and wheels though, I really cant complain about the snow driving so far.
Anyways, the car is an 04 AUTOMATIC (shoot me now). Bought it in tampa as the wifes car and of course, now it gets handed down to me so im driving a girl car, owell still handles nice . No real mods though, just black stock wheels (for summer tires). and a sub in the back

I guess that depends on how sandy city clears the snow on your street!/ I am going to lower mine soon and hopefully get a turbo! I have saved up about 1/2 of what I need for it.

 

I used to live in sandy so you might see me there like once a week .

yeah bose, I took the mechanic out on a drive with me and they are trying to approve the work before they start tearing my tranny apart again. I heard tanner transmissions is good but I don't have a reliable source. I think he said he would be replacing the gears this time (last time they replaced my sincro's). Let me know if you hear of any good places please.

Do they check your tint? if so whats the legal limit here?

What else do they check? the car is stock right now but I would just like to know for future reference if i decide to do anything.

how often do you have to do it and how much does it cost?

 

its not the snow, its the crazy roads. The dips, I guess for when the snow melts???

 

Yes tint is checked/ limits are front 50% aand rears 30%/ sucks/ safety and emissions generally costs around $50 for both

I have a tint on mine but I think mine is in limits, and yes my car is my avatar some places that look run down don't check tint and such but it really is just a guess as to who will let it pass or not.. florida plates is good .

Winter just all around SUX for the RX-8... I havent taken mine out for over a week. I can't imagine lowering it at all, I cringe anytime I bottom out.( which is often) I've already cracked my front spoiler. This car drives me to an insanity I have never known with door dings and people who park to close and open their doors into it and slamming the doors and OMG!!!!! I think I may sell it and relives the anxiety I experience over it NAHHHH probly not. But I am very interested in knowing just how fast they really can go? anyone know? I too would be interested in a summer ride.....

Yeah the roads are shitty right now but they will fix them as soon as weather clears, I will be lowering my 8 in a few weeks so I will let you know. But my 8 is fantastic in the snow with my snow tires, haven't been stuck once at all.

I know my 8 can get up to 148 mph on a good long stretch. As far as acceleration goes it's not super fast but with the right turbo it can beat STI's and EVO's.

I can get you a number for paintless dent removal later today or tomorrow.

 

Just go to a Jiffy Lube and have them do it. The guys there were too busy oogling my car to care about my illegal mods. The one I like is on 90th and Redwood (1700 w.) I know everyone there. But my inspection and taxes and all that was like 150. And you do it once a year. They check emissons, look for cracked windows. Make sure all your lights work and are the proper color, amber. (Mine are clear with white lights) Just basic crap.
