it miss fired a couple times and they told you it was ok? I would cut their necks... I had a miss fire a couple times and they had to replace my spark plugs (that wasn't it), my spark plug wires next (that wasn't it), finally my ignition coils (bingo!).. good thing it was all under warrenty.. I would be carefull, figure out if the cat is really the problem before you spend money replacing it (not that a high flow wouldn't be worth the money).

Mine has run perfectly for 20 months, and even with only 8,000 miles on her, I'm going to replace plugs, wires and coils when she comes out of hibernation next March. That will be long enough on the old ones.

Did you get a flashing check engine light? Check your coils for burned spots on the bottom. How many miles are on your 8 and have the plugs and coils ever been changed? It may just be that, but it's pretty easy to check if your cat is clogged but you have to pull it out and look into it. If you haven't had the plugs and coils changed out I would do that first, average life expectancy for these coils in only 25-30k miles. And shop around you can get ripped off easy on these so don't just go to the dealer.

Moving again? Sounds like no fun. Anyone checkout the grounding kit I'm trying to do a group buy on? I'm getting one Friday, maybe Monday at the latest. I will post pics and review on it the next day.

I will avoid the dealer like the plague! If I go there anymore I will be one broke sorry sob! I'll let you guys know what I find out. I dont post much since I need to go to my parents house to use the computer for now.

Does anybody know where to get blue park and driving lights? not HID but direct replacements for my lights just blue in color, I have a sport 04 and I've been told that if I put in HID's that the wiring will fail so I just want blue lights

You can get the parking light's from rx8strakes.com, they have a 9 led that looks great. But if you want a great HID kit that is inexpensive and has a lifetime warranty, go to sharphid.com they have kits that don't require any splicing of the stock harness or anything. I installed some on my buddy's WRX 2 months ago and they are perfect, leveled bright as hell and no problems with anything. I am getting a fog light kit for my 8 for Christmas.

Do you guys have an idea of how much a high flow one would cost? I may just do that being out of warranty. Thanks guys.
Mine did something similar around 50k miles. Turned out there was a brand new recall for the electronics; something about it not dispersing enough oil into the engine soon enough. I had that done and about 5k miles later it hasn't done it since. I'd find a dealer (Bountiful Mazda is really good) describe your symptoms, mention that re-programing recall - it's worth a try.

We all hate the dealers cuz they overcharge for everything. But some of them genuinely try to help you out, and especially for recalls (which we have a TON of) it's worth checking with them first cuz word gets to them first about that stuff. Also, you probably already know but they extended our drive train warranty to 100k. This may not help you - i'm really not sure how extensive that coverage is, but if you can make it look like it was never modified, you might sucker them out of some warranty coverage. But it's also true that the nicer you are (and persistant) the more they'll be willing to help out.

P.s. nice to meet you

I hate to say it, but eng, bountiful only helped you cause you are of the fairer sex, I had my warranty flat out denied by Bountiful. Their service writer is a lazy asshat. He won't look up any of my cars service records, saying it's virtually impossible. WTF is that supposed to mean. Hence the reason for learning to fix my own ****.
/end rant.

I ******* hate thieves, sorry to hear about it.

My 8 started running rough on idle like a week ago. Performance was still the same except the car would be a little grumpy when put into gear (only on idle). So I took it to the dealership and they worked on it for an entire day. When I went to check on it, they said everything is fixed and handed me one of those cheap aftermarket products that goes inside the air intake which I had put in like 6 months ago. The service manager said it was the cause of the problem eventhough I had a feelings that can't be it. So I tested the car and found that the problem is still there. Talked to the service manager again(really nice guy) and he said he'll take another look at it and offered me a free rental car as well. So after two days at the dealership, the manager calls me and lets me know that the engine has to be replaced (same transmission though) and that it will be under the warranty however, will charge 3.7 hrs of labor ($400) for taking out the aftermarket product which they thaught was the cause but proved not to be. Unwilligly i agreed to pay the labor just cause they are putting a new engine in. However, I'm still not happy with getting charged 3.7 hrs for taking that piece off which wasn't the cause of the problem plus they didn't charge me anything for that when they first thought they had fixed the problem by taking it off. I'm not a tech guy by any means, so would like to get your input on this. Should I fight for the labor fee or just let it pass by since I'm getting a new engine put in for free?

21,000 miles on the old engine.

I say **** that. I would bring up the point that they already removed the part and you weren't charge for that then. I don't think it's right that they go back on their word. They can't charge you for removing something that is not there. But you did already agree to pay and they will try and hold that against you, but don't back down and be very calm and respectful, and if all else fails cry like a baby. J/K. but don't go yelling and screaming. it rarely works.

BTW what did you put in your intake?

oh it's just a metal cone like thing that supposedly creates a vortex and gives a better air flow, but I didn't see any improvement after having that in. I should have taken that off before getting to the dealership. The thing is, it had been there for so long I didn't even remember it was there. I'm sure I can reverse the charges if I cry about it..lol. Thanx for the advice Bose
