You guys should come up here for a mini-meet! I had the REVi but now I am about to sell it since I am running the turbo and LOVE IT! Kewl has the REVi, though. You could hear it live. I'll also let any of you guys drive possibly the only turbo 8 in the state if you want! Its pretty fun! :P

That was me. All for sale postings belong in the for sale forums. Besides, what are you upset about, you sold it quickly!

Thank you for the information for this site MD. I see you moved here from the East Coast, how do you like it so far? One of these days real soon if your schedual permits I would like to get together and maybe take the 8's out and let them run. I know of this stretch of highway south of me that is so rarely patroled you might as well say that it is not. That Highy runs for 25 to 30 miles with out any intersecting roads and very few turns but you can let the 8 run as hard as you want and just about as long as you want. Possibly maybe even a trip to the Crest early one weekend morning before to much traffic is on the road so the turns can be fully enjoyed :D :D !!!!!!!

Stinger,
So far I love it here! Its much different than the East, but I like it a lot! I've lived in Atlanta, Miami, and DC. There are many advantages of a smaller town like this! Plus, NM has so much to offer. I had no idea there was so much to do and see here.

Anyways, I would love to get together soon! Kewl is thinking of setting something up in the next two weeks or so. We like to meet for breakfast and a drive. I would like to see this highway you talk of. Sounds like a great place to test out the ole turbo! That drive on the crest road is one of my favorites! What building do you work in here at KAFB? I'm in 860. Maybe we could have lunch soon.

I work out of Building 858 MDL (West). Isn't 860 right across the street from 878? You don't by chance work with Carl Petterson or Daniel Stevens do you?

As for th e Hwy, it is Highway 47. The deserted part I am talking of starts about 7-10 miles south of Rio Communities (which is on the east & south side of Belen) and runs south till it intersects with US 60. I had the STINGER out there last September and had it up to 137 and that is when I noticed the bra on the front. Normaly you can NOT see the bra! But this day I sure could!!! So I backed it down to save me $125. I have not had a chance to go back out there yet , but when I do you can sure bet there will not be any bra on it :D :D :D !

As for the the thing Kewl is setting up it sounds great! I am looking forward to it!

Let's shoot for a mini-meet on Oct 9th. We can meet in the morning for breakfast in Cedar Crest on highway 14. After breakfast drive to the crest or take 337 south to 60 with a drive to Belen via 47....the long straight flat part of 47 between 60 and Belen. That is the road stinger is talking about. I have driven that road many times and it is straight and flat. The early part of 337 is winding, although it is patrolled....

Comments? Suggestions?

Anyone mind if we moved it to 16 Oct? The 9th is the last day of the balloon fiesta making it difficult for some to make the morning meet on the 9th.

I'll make it no matter when it is. I can't wait to show off all my new mods! I got my Fluidyne oil cooler in this weekend. I'd recommend this even for NA 8's. The stock coolers seem very inefficient compared to this one. The new one is too hot to touch while the OEM coolers are just warming up. And one of the stock coolers is before the Fluidyne in the series! Plus, it adds about 1.25 quarts to the capacity. Not too shabby.

So how many 8's are you expecting so far to show up? Have you decided on a time and a place for breakfast as of yet? So looking forward to meeting you and your 8's!

Not sure of the number attending, but the plan now is to meet at the cafe in Cedar Crest at 9am on 16 Oct. From there we can drive to the crest and if we like take 337 south to 55 then 60 to Belen. We could continue South of Belen to San Antonio and have lunch at one of the best hamburger places in the country....no not the Owl Cafe....but across the street from there.

I can't remember the name of the cafe in Cedar Crest, perhaps Barry can feel us in on the name of the place. The cafe is on 14 a few miles north of I40.

If you plan to attend give us a post here telling us....

Once I find the name of the cafe I'll post it here.

Anybody mind if we open this up to other Mazda owners? I know of a Mazdaspeed Miata that might be interested. Perhaps we could get some of the 7 owners interested, too. I plan on going over to Rotary RX in the next day or so to show off the turbo. They've been asking. Seems they are worried about a little competition :p

I don't have a problem with it. But I am new here and this will be my first 8 get together. So I will leave it up to you and the others to decide.

I bet you are glad end of year is over! I know I sure am!!!!

Where is Rotary RX at? I have never heard of the place. I am curious to see what kind of G :D :D DIES they may have there. I might end up get myself into trouble with the wife though. But what the heck when am I not into trouble?

I think it would be a great idea to open it up to the other rotary guys...all will be welcome.

Track day at Sandia this coming weekend. Sat and Sun. $75/day. I can't make Saturday, but might be willing to consider Sunday if anyone would be interested in going.... Track day is where you get to drive your car on the track...after some training/instruction. Helmet is required....

YAH :D :D :D :D :D ! The wife said I could go! I have to see about getting a helmet. Does the helmet have to be close faced or can it be an open faced helmet. What time does the track open? How long does this run? My youngest daughter has an audition for the Nutcraker Ballet on Sunday and they want to go to the track but also need to leave for the audition. So any info you can give me would greatly be appreciated.

New avitar I see what made you decide to get rid of the rooster? How did your trip to Rotary RX go?

I am curious MD. What kind of tires are you running on your 8? Mine came with DUNLOPS on it and they have been as far as I know pretty good so far. But I am going to have to replace them in the near future and I am trying to see what some of the N.M. people are running on thier 8's. I have seen where Kewl is running PIRELLI's on his 8 but that is about the only ones from around here that I have seen listed.

Well it is not looking good on the helmet issue. The few people that I know that have helmets have them no more. So my earlier response as to yes now looks like no. Sorry about that.

Never say never....isn't that how the saying goes?

Here is the information on track day:
http://coloradoscca.org/supregs/2005...005_HPe_v1.pdf

As MadDog can attest track day is really great. You not only learn a lot about how little you know about driving a car (speaking only for myself, of course), but you learn an awful lot about just what your car will do. And trust us, the RX8 is capable of a whole more handling then what you might think. On my track day there were turns I thought were only good for 30mph that by the end of the day I was taking at 60+. And the only reason it stopped there was because the tire barrier was getting a little too close for me. Helmets aren't much. Cycle Gear at 5000 Cutler Ave. has a good selection for not that much. Just make sure they meet one of the standards cited at the web site above.

MadDog you aren't going to show off that turbo with it still making that funny noise....are you?

Have you completed the tuning you wanted (needed) to do? I sure hope the tuning toned it down somewhat so that it least the car is controllable.

Do you think you can make track day? Not to upset the 7's you understand, but rather to feel out the full strength of those 6 pounds....

Stinger, I am also running the Dunlops from the factory. I am about to buy some new rubber, though. I am thinking about the Goodrich g-Force T/A KDW2. They are supposed to be VERY sticky, and I need the grip now! :p If I go to track day, that will be the last straw for these tires. It really takes a toll!

Yeah, it was just time for a change on the avitar. Just trying to keep it fresh. You should go to track day even if you have no helmet. If I go, you can use mine while I break, which will be about 60% of the time!

Actually, Kewl, the tuning was supposed to give it MORE power at 6psi! I haven't done that yet. I was waiting to get the new oil cooler and the Royal Purple in there first. Now we can see about adding a few more ponies.

I hope I can do track day. I have no idea where that place is. Maybe we could ride out together. Is this open track day? Will there be some 350's and STi's that I can surprise? :p

Yeah, it is an open track day. I'm told you will see all kinds of vehicles you can surprise. Several posts back I included the URL with all the track info. I do have a bit of inside sources if there are specific questions one might have.

Track is on the westside. Access is along the frontage road on the south side of I-40. I think it would be good if the 8's going did arrive together. Keep in touch on decision to go and we can arrange someplace to meet.

And yes, I know tuning will give you more HP, but I don't want to see that cause that just means more added that aren't in my 8. Not good. I continue to watch the supercharger web page for release of their product. I'm interested in seeing what they will offer up.

Glad to see you have selected tires. After track day you will need them
