Isn't Topeka just 500 miles over that way?
Why not bring it with you, since its 1 state over?

I might be staying in an extended stay hotel, or a small apartment. Won't have room to store winter wheels+tires. That and also the fact that covered, secured parking probably wont be available in the case of an apartment.

Also, if I have the opportunity to park the car for winter, I'll take it. Company might reimburse me the purchase of a beater. A lot of details to be worked out still.

Yo! Was gone for the Summer and I got back mid Aug. Since then I've seen a bunch of RX-8s running around Denver. Mostly SI. Saw a few while driving my Turbo 8 around. Most of the others I was in a non Mazda.

Hopefully someone has taken their 8 to the drag track, I know its a rare thing to do.
I had taken my 8 to the strip a few times back in the day and once l2 years ago with the turbo kit installed. My best time stock up here was 16.13 sec typically I would run a 16.3X every time. I was talking to a guy at a car meet back in the day and he had a GS model (I have a GT) with cloth seats, no Moon roof, and no DSC or TCS. He says he ran a 15.9 once.

When I took it up with the turbo kit my transmission was grinding second (It still does) so I lost momentum and time trying to get it in to gear the finally skipped to third. I ran a 15.4 if I remember right. I was tuned down quit a bit due to overheating issues. Was probably putting 240RWHP to the wheels.

I am ordering a water/meth injection kit and making a bracket for a new WG actuator to actually be able to hold boost till redline. Gonna get Re-tuned mid Nov. hopefully. Swap transmitions out with my other, stock, RX-8 and hit Bandimeer in the Spring. Wish I could have everything done before their last open day but I won't.

We just thank our lucky stars that we don't live in NYC, DC, Chicago, LA, or San Fransisco.

I got off of I25 and was in a left turn lane and 3 cars made it through. What is that all about? There must have been like 20 cars waiting to make that left. I would hate to be anywhere near there at rush hour. I was thinking about looking at jobs in the Tech Center but not if I have to deal with that level of crazy.

Trust me, I understand your feeling on the traffic situation.
No one can pay me enough to work in Denver, or the DTC.

I will stick with my job in Westminster, only 7 miles up the road from my house.
Still not the best in traffic situations, but way better than having to drive to and from Boulder (I hated those 3 years), or going anywhere near Denver.

I think the worst commute is anyone that has to transition between highways 225, I-70, and I-25. Just trying to get to the airport during rush hour is a nightmare.

You could take the lightrail if you worked in the Tech Center. Much more convenient than driving.

How's good ole Colorado these days? Still in Topeka for at least another 4 months. Can't wait to get back. My 98 explorer beater just doesn't compare to the 8.

Coming from Springs it doesn't make much sense to take the lightrail. Now if we still had FREX...

DTC only takes me about 40-50 minutes from Frederick but I take the toll all the way around and take it off my taxes or bill back the company. Day after day in rush hour through the valley would blow and better be real good money.

Smile good dealer/service shop?

Hi

I'm not sure if there is still anyone checking this site, but I just got a used RX-8 and am wondering if you can suggest me a good, reliable dealer or repair shop for RX-8. I'm in Fort Collins, but I'm not sure our local Mazda dealer because they've never sold a new RX-8.

The reason I'm asking is to have my RX-8's water pump and engine oil pan's sealing gaskets replaced.

I appreciate your input. thanks and have a great Christmas!

I live in Fort Collins also. I was thinking maybe the dealer in Longmont might be decent. Of course, avoid Spradley Barr like the plague.

I own a silver 2009 sport model. What is your 8? I live on the SE part of town. Maybe I've seen it. Don't see too many of them up north here...

@ pgorges, I used to own 05 RX-8, but I traded it for a 13 Speed 3 @ Lakewood Mazda. I had seen 5 other RX-8s on their lot when I traded mine in and mine was sold on Mon and I traded it in on Sat prior. I have never used them to do any work on my 8, but they fixed a enigine light on my Speed3. They gave me a loaner and all, but that might have been because I had bought 3 cars and 2 of them being NEW. But the attention I got was great, and they have a racing team there. So I think I would use them if I still had my 8.

Anyone know of a place to get reasonably priced plugs in the Springs area? I'm getting near 50K miles and I've never done them before so it's about time. Back in Cleveland we would always just drive down to Summit Racing, but I haven't found anything similar here yet.

Hi everyone, I'm new to the forum. I live up in Thornton and bought my 06 RX8 almost two months ago. I'm loving the car so far and can't wait till better weather rolls in. Just thought I would drop in and say hi since I've been a member for a little bit now.

I used to live in Fort Collins and had several RX-7s that I took to Maztech on the north side of Fort Collins. They were always great.

This is a late response. You know its very frustrating. The short turn signal lights annoy me every day. The timing between lights is irritating. Your first in line at your light and even if you go 10 over the limit the next set seems to stop you.

Wheels are looking great on the grey 8 BTW. Good sell!

And there is some activity in here. I wish everyone would join up at CMZC.net. I'm sure if we all joined there it'd be a little easier to find posts and start threads to help each other out. Get some summer cruises organized with other Mazda folk.

Oh also, the last set of plugs I think I bought came from checkers/Oriely auto parts. Good price not like the price gauging dealers. The two sets before that I bought from BHR. Two sets for $80. The ones from the auto parts store were exactly the same as from Mazda. Just didn't say Mazda.

I'm in colorado rx8

Hi . I live in Colorado and I bought my 8 in 2009. My 8 is a 2004 series one 4 speed automatic. I am waiting until this Friday the 29th to pick up my 8 from Lakewood mazda racing.

It went into limp mode one day last year and the omp was dead. The new omp and ecu reset was approx. $1275.00. Mine sits in the garage most winter days except when it's nice and no sand and s#@t on the road.

Any one here run the mountain roads in our beautiful mountains. The car is born for that....S turns and such.

How much for the rotor/housing? I want them for the same purpose you are currently using them haha
