My turbo died yesterday :(
I was driving down the street and suddenly it went from boost to not producing any more boost at all. The gauge shows the vacuum when I am not on gas, then when i press the gas vacuum goes to zero but does not produce boost. Car feels like stock, completely stock. I don't know what happened. Any suggestion?
Thanks
Thanks

vaccum should increase (or decrease, depding on how you look at it) as you apply throttle, it shouldn't go back to zero.
although i wouldn't be suprised if it's blown (you were after all, running 15.5psi lol). is your boost controler malfunctioning? get a leak checker and check for a leak anyway

Perhaps the bearing seized? Has happened before. And John has stated that the grready is prone to overspeed, hypothetically leading to bearing blowout. search the user rkostolni

Pull the compression pipe off of your turbo and see if you have an excessive amount of oil inside the turbo.
I know how you feel though. Scott is currently rebuilding myne because it blew, after only 1500 miles. Unfortunately, there is no warranty on the turbo. Pretty shitty huh. Especially if you read the warranty section of Greddy's website making it out like everything is covered without question.
Clearly something is not engineered properly with this kit. This is the 5th turbo I've hear of blowing. All had extremely low miles. I've gotten a lot of mixed responses about why they could be blowing. A likely explaination is the turbo could be overspeeding and possibly driven close to surge due to the placement of the wastegate control source. It should be tapped prior to the TB so the turbo doesn't try to make boost below near full throttle.
When myne blew I considered alot of options. I considered a stock rebuild, the Bullseye performance upgrade, Scotts upgrade, or going to a whole new turbo kit. For now I've decided to stick with the stock turbo since no other kit is really available yet and I didn't want to spend money on an upgraded turbo without more certainty in what it offered.

I really don't think it blew from running such high boost. That may have accelerated the wear, but I think there is another problem. I was only running 5psi the whole time I had my turbo and it still died. Many Mitsubishi owners use 18g wheels and have no problem pushing the kind of boost he was running

^^ Agreed, when you get the new one.
It sounds like it isn't spinning. Pull the downpipe and try spinning the turbine by hand.
If it is locked or wobbles, it is toast. It should turn freely and have only a minute amount of play from side-to-side.

Thanks ,
I will try to do that tomorrow. Is it too bad if I run the car like that? I mean really slow rpm.
Is the only car i have right now.
The only thing it will hurt in the short run is the turbo, but it is dead so who cares.
It will cook a bit.
EGTs will probably be a bit high, so don't race it in that condition.
The power will definately be lower than stock with that big exhaust restriction.
When my turbine jammed (got a chunk of loose welding scrap I left in the manifold inadvertantly jammed into the blades. Turbo survived with no problems) , it was like half-throttle all the time.
