Interceptor X for NA
The Interceptor is in and man, what a difference......my car kicks ars now!!
i grabbed two full car lengths from Raymull (yellow_ocho) in 3rd gear and that is saying a lot, since he drives like he stole it. He is running the same set up with the addition of the REVi.
There is an immediate response, if you want it,in every gear. The pull in the low gears is great and the high gears, well.....let's say, I need more highway time to really test it out. I am shooting flames out the back right now, but that can be tuned out if you want.
If anyone is interested in HP gains or additional torque this is the way to go. I am not ready to get a turbo yet, and this is the additional kick I was looking for.
This computer is plug-n-play and can be removed easily if you need to go in for warranty work or anything. It can also be used and the computer for a turbo kit down the road. EvilMiata (Evil8) has it working with his gigantic turbo setup currently.
I am very satisfied so far and I havent even had it dyno tuned yet.I am curious to see how different it is from Swoope's charts. Mazsport is located in the Tampa Bay area and rotarys are there forte.
There is about 10-20 additional HP gain through the powerband.
I have the HKS Exhaust, B&B midpipe, and basic RB Ram Air only. The Interceptor X really compliments the car. This is a great direction to go if you plan on going turbo down the line and dont want to eat that giant price all at once.
In my opinion, if you are looking to mod your 8 and get the most power per dollar, go InterceptorX for NA application. You can change the maps later for a turbo and dont have to get rid of it like an intake.

here is the thread for the dyno on Swoope's 8 with a similar set up. He had a midpipe and corksport exhaust....

So far, this seems pretty accurate to what I am feeling when I drive. This is a long link, so you may need to scroll to find his dyno chart. I will post mine when Scott tunes it.

You can feel an improvement in all gears. Of course it is best in the higher RPMS, but if you are just cruising in 2 or 3rd, or even 1st you can barely touch the gas and feel a good pull if you want it. That was why I was saying it is a good purchase for NA application.
Mantis,
Do you find that with the interceptor-x the inital car startup is a little weaker than stock? I noticed this, even with the new starter. I wonder if it take a moment for the computer to recognize the vacuum change.
It just seems like the car stock really fires up quick and hard. I've never had a problem starting, I just want to make sure this is normal.
I can't wait to get mine tuned soon by Rotary Performance.

I noticed that my 8 starts up fine but does react a bit slower. I think this is more from the B&B midpipe than the Interceptor. My roommate has the HKS exhaust and the B&B midpipe without the Interceptor and he noticed the same thing.
Scott installed my Interceptor and did a slight tune to get me going, but not a good dyno tune yet.
Do you have the midpipe?
I also have the newer starter, battery, and spark plugs because my car flooded 2 months ago.

Oh, I did notice idle issues on day one. The computer has learned the adjustments to the system and has resolved my idle stutter from the first install. No issues at all at idle now.
see you thursday then dro....
because i havent had it tuned yet, it has been throwing flames like you wouldnt believe. the club said i had a 6foot flame heading up causeway blvd
.....it seems to flame mostly when i am decelerating.....funny
...cant wait to get it tuned. i guess the catless midpipe doesnt help much with the flames

Glad to hear you are happy Mantis! The "flames" which is not uncommon on a Rotary powered vehicle with a midpipe can be shutoff very quickly. After connecting to the system press "o" for options and toggle over to the "decel" function. Press "p" for program and change that value to say 22-23in and it will stop all fuel from being injected under decel. Enjoy,Scott
Well, for now I shall keep it as is.....I have so many fast and frustrated ricers sweatin my 8 that I will enjoy it for now. Nothing like a bit of fire to keep the boys away.....guys always seem to sweat my car....
