It's got nothing to do with me. All I'm saying is that on the National level autox circuit with top level drivers in both cars of equal preparation that an SRT-4 is going to be 1+ seconds behind an RX-8 on a 60 second course.

Don't take my word on it, go pose the question in the competition forum, or if you think they're jaded go to SccaForums.com and post it there. The SRT-4 has a lot of power, but it doesn't handle anywhere near as well and can't put it down in the turns. I'm not knocking the SRT-4, I think it's a cool car. It can't run with an RX-8 all else being equal, no different than an RX-8 can't run with a Z06 Vette. That's a fact, not ego.

GRM magazine thought they were going to clean up with one and even had one of the best drivers in recent SCCA autox FWD history to drive it (multiple National Championships (including Neon ACR), 1st year National winner of the Mazda Rev-It-Up series, Mazda Rev-It-Up instructor/driver 2nd year, Dodge development work for the SRT-4) and even he couldn't get it done in it's own class, let alone the higher class the RX-8 runs in. It lost substantially to BMW 330i sedans and Integra Type R's in D Stock at the 2004 National Championships, while the RX-8 wins in B Stock.

here's the recent results from the SCCA San Diego National Tour two weeks ago. An SRT-4 won in D Stock, but's it's over 4 seconds behind the winning RX-8 times in B Stock for two days competition, the top B-Stock drivers are on this board in the Competition forum:

Again, not knocking you or your car, just your frame of reference. The SRT-4 runs in a different class than the RX-8 for a reason.

Dominion; presently my RX-8 is bone factory stock. I ran Stock class last year and can dig up some pics of that if you want, but I sold all the Stock parts and put it back to OE recently for recall work. The STU conversion for this year is still 3 - 8 weeks out. I hope to have it ready for the Houston National Tour event in late April.

How is this statement even close to being true. You are telling me there are no real "racers" who drive the 1/4 mile strip? Publicly it is alot more liked. I see more drag type shows on t.v. than anything. Well other than the hillbilly oval tracks.

But I guess when you own a RX8 then you dont wanna go fast.....just wanna win any way u can.

Besides the weekly FW and the bi-weekly Dallas meets, the next DFW meet is April 1. I'll be out of town that weekend though....

The next "competition" would be the OK BBQ in Tulsa, May 27. I will be there, without a doubt.

Actually I find it amusing. Keep it coming. By the way, what do you have on your SRT-4? I may like to run it going at like a 40-punch just for sh$ts and giggles.

It definetely is a form of racing. Alot of this racing though is mechanics based (in part, all forms of racing are). Some types of racing are more about the driver than others.
So from the drag racing perspective are we talking about reaction time between you and TeamRX8 (i am such an instigator... i love it ), or are we talking about who's car is faster.

I think thats the difference here.
Who is faster
Who's car is faster
and
Who has the largest *****.

I should turn this into a poll in the lounge... since this has just lost any possible sort of credibility. In the end... i really don't care who is fastest, as long as everyone is enjoying themselves and their car in their own way.

Just because something is on TV more doesn't make it better or more popular. There are other forms of racing more popular than drag racing that get very little coverage. There is some skill involved in drag racing, but I triple dog dare you to put one of those guys behind the wheel of an F1 car and go a lap with Schumie and see what happens. On the other hand, I would venture a guess the learning curve (haha) for an F1 driver to drag race would be substantially smaller. I think you need to let it go, even if you had the most bad ***, fastest neon ever here is the bottom line for you: It is still fwd, and above anything else, it is still a pos neon. There are no real enthusiasts on this forum who claim the 8 is the fastest car ever, and there are lots of cars that can beat one in a race straight line or otherwise. But on the other hand, the 8 has been very successful in a lot of races as well against cars that were supposed to be faster and handle better, so maybe the best thing would be to agree to disagree and for the love of God, please stop comparing the 8 to a **** crap fwd boosted neon. there is no comparison, period. If you want to compare the srt to something, how baout something in its class like a cobalt ss or rsx or something.

As far as this pissing match is going you talk all the **** in the world about being a great F*cking driver and how sweet your ride is; BACK IT THE F*CK UP. Come out to one of the meets in whatever the hell you have and prove it. I am sure that members will be more than happy to arrange whatever type of race you want to (highway, drag, or autocross).

Hey, lets not overly bash the guy. In all honesty an SRT-4 is a smoking fast car even bone stock at the strip. He's new to the RX-8 and just needs some time to fully understand what it's strengths and weaknesses are. Even I didn't think it would be all that good when it first came out. Then I drove forum member clyde's RX-8 at an autocross with a prototype set of Koni shocks and was quickly convinced otherwise.

Thanks for being decent. I mean hell the new guy gets all dogged out. Wow. Never had a rotary before and always liked the Power cars. Which is something this one lacks a little in that field. Mostly the wifes car, but I drive it when i am adding parts to the SRT-4.

Are you kidding me? POS Neon? Wow the SRT-4 engine is built from the Factory to handle 550 without problems. Same class as the Cobalt (170) and RSX (175)? Please know about more than your own car please. And me and the bag guy was having a decent discussion and you come and your only input it to try and rag on someone and their car? As of now i have a GT35r BB turbo kit on it. Upgraded AGP Intercooler. Wastegate. Greddy Spec 2 BC. All hard pipes with Greddy RS BOV. Dump exhaust no cat. Few other small things, but cant remember them all. I hit 387 on pump gas when i had the 50 trim on it, so i am hoping to be around 425 right now. Just sucks this new turbo spools at almost 3700 when the 50 trim was at around 3200. Oh yea those numbers was at 22 psi.

Darn the wife is gonna be out of town during the April 1st meet as well. But imma talk to her about going to the May one. Should have most the looks done to the car by then and out of the stereo install shop.
