Tire Comparison (Potenza)

Bridgestone Potenza S-03 Pole Position or Bridgestone Potenza RE960AS Pole Position for Houston

I've had the Potenza RE960 and I love them but the S-03 is on clearance right now at tirerack so i'm wondering which one is better. Any other suggestions is good too thanks

Well, you guys in the US have the RE-01R ... we have a similar variant sold as Adrenalins (RE-001) down in Australia and I reckon they're ok ... but I only got them 'cos they were cheap. Your climate in Texas would be similar so I'd presume you should get the same performance.

If you want the top performance the RE-01R kicks the crap out of both of them. The S03's are decent though no experience with the other one.

I currently have 225/45/18 all around Bridgestone S0-3 Pole Position. Let's just say that through these tires I've become a pretty damn good drifter, because my back ones are almost out of tread and it hasn't even been 5,000 miles

The tires are pretty good, I wouldn't complain but I'm sure there's better tires out there... But wait, oh ya money drives the world!!

Kumho SPT, they were under $100 a piece last time I checked in stock sizes.

I've driven my 8 with Kumho Supra712s and was very happy with them. Then I found an even better deal with Nankang NS-II's:

http://highperformancetire.com/home.php?cat=324

They've been sticking very well for me on the road and on the track (most recently this past weekend on our local track being tested by Indy car drivers). Best of all is the price. It's hard to argue with tires that cost about $70 each and perform this well.

The tread wear has been about as good as other tires I've had on my 8 (Kumho's and the stock Dunlops). And at this price, who cares? You'll be able to afford to take up drifting as a hobby.

712's are the worst tires I've ever purchased. They suck in the dry, they suck in the rain, they are loud as hell when they start to wear at all. Go try some real performance tires if you do track days like the RE-01R, AD07 Neovas etc.

Now i'm out of tread and I hydroplaned 3 times going 40 MPH on the highway the other day and I drive to downtown just about everyday so it's pretty dangerous...

Apparently I was not being clear. I went for those tires because I got sick of paying $250/per. I did that for one tire when I was hard up on a cross country. I am much happier paying $70/per. I had no expectation of getting max performance at this price. It works for me, and if I learn about a better value deal then I will certainly consider switching.

Geforce is looking for a deal on daily driver rubber. I see the Nankangs as an outstanding value.
