People are trying to find reasons not to do this, when instead we should be trying to find reasons to do it. We are all capable of evaluating the risks of an event like this, now let's hear who is going or not. Put up shut up, let's do this.

and watch something come up and me not be able to attend

Road Atlanta is alot of fun, Thats where I'm from. I'm just saying, for people who do not have prior track experience, this could be dangerous. I personally don't want anyone infront or behind me that may not have the experience, come into a corner to hot and eat my *** end...

Y'all have fun, I'll be watching from a safe place.

Somewhere like MSR seems like it would be overall more enjoyable by the group as you can get a faster overall speed due to the longer runs.
Also turn 6, the surface is coming up (unless it has been resurfaced within the last 2 months) and will eat through street tires - I will give you names of people who have had this experience personally.

I don't think this is a super idea for a meet if there are people without any track experience, especially since there is No Instructors (unless you bring you own.)

I would like to ensure that these items are handled before plunking down 200.00 on a track day.

I know I can handle the technical capabilities of the track, but I don't want to see any of my friends push their limits a bit too far and end up breaking something.

Just my .02
I'd also like to echo what another poster said about this track to allay fears some.

I've run both ECR and MSR several times. Honestly, if you wanted to do an apples to apples comparison, if you ran the 3.1 at MSR, I'd think that one was more technical and more risky (note they rarely run the 3.1, just the 1.7) There is also no way you are going to go faster at MSR, the straights aren't as long. The only reason you'd have faster times there is because the track they normally run is almost half a mile shorter than this track. I've also never experienced the surface issues you speak of. Yes, the pavement does change type in a few spots, but when I've run it, it was negligible on wear and tear.

This is the last "opinion" or "thoughts" post I want to see on this thread. If you want to share them please send me a PM. Any more and I will ask the mods to start deleting posts. If you are interested and want to come, say so, if not, post nothing.

Not sure about April 7th since it's the day before Easter. Might be hard to plan a whole weekend of "events" that weekend.

Another weekend, you could probably count me in. And Jace if you need another car, but he'll be in the S.

Probably more to the point of if someone starts a thread and you thread jack it, then yes, you can ask a mod to delete them. What, you think you got free speech or something?

Ok everyone, hopefully I will have more details soon, but I'm most likely going to kill the original implementation of this, but try to resurrect it in a different format to make some people a little happier about safety etc. If I can pull it off I will ask to have this thread locked and start a new one which hopefully will fare a bit better. If I can't pull it off I will update people as to the details of the Kerrville meet a bit further down the line. We've picked up a few helpers, so we shall see what fruit they produce
