Service in Austin

Hi all,

I'm new to the RX-8 family, just got my yellow 8 a few weeks ago and having a good time of course.

I live in Pflugerville and was curious for those of you in the Austin area, who have you had good and bad experiences with service for your cars? Are there any dealers I should avoid like the plague?

I actually ended up buying mine in San Antonio because the dealers here, especially Roger Beasley didn't want to deal with me over the internet. Go figure, they lost a sale.

I appreciate any responses, thanks.

John

so far I've had good luck with the Beasley on Burnet road, I got a rippin' deal on my yellow there and their service has been excellent. I tried the Beasley south on I35 but the salesperson I was deallng with and his sales manager were a complete and utter joke, totally reinforced the whole "all they wanna' do is screw you" lable that gets thrown on car salesmen.

Don't judge Service and Parts by the front Sales vultures. The back end hates them too, lol! I was installing software/training at Mazda South today(amidst Tornado warnings). The parts/service mgrs(Dan and Greg) are old school rotary fans/racers.

Service in Austin

Hey Gang!
Hadn't checked in on the Forum for a while and the tone of this thread was disturbing, not the least of which that it was warranted and our fault. I'd been out for a while due to bypass surgery, due to too many people coming in to get way too good deals :D and coming back to work with people in the Sales Dept., both mgmt. and sales people that I didn't feel were good for us or our customers. I am pleased to say that those people are no longer with us and in fact, we have the Sales Mgr. back that was with us when the 8 was launched. He decided Acura wasn't where he wanted to be. So, we are one big happy family again! My apologies to anyone we may have pissed off over the last few months.

Dang Budaman, wish that had happened sooner. I'm not knocking south as a whole by the way, sorry to give that impression. I'm just saying when I went in to try and buy my 8 I didn't get treated very well. The guys at the North location had their ducks in a row something fierce, they had printouts of all the color/package I wanted and where it was heading and when it would arrive etc., plus they were willing to work a little of a deal which turned into a lot of a deal after it was all said and done. There was no waiting around for someone, the guy who sold me my car was an enthusiast as well and knew quite a bit about the 8. The first time I walked in there he spent almost an hour just explaining the car and all of its features knowing full well I wasn't going to be buying that night, left a good impression so I ended up going back after giving the South guys a try. (south guys had me waiting, and were very condescending and rude, made me feel like a little kid when I was in there, that and hearing the sales manager and the salesguy yelling in homedude's office about "he's still haggling about the price?!!) left a sore spot, sad too because they had a yellow with the polished wheels that I would have died for. )

Main thing is you got the car you wanted and was comfortable with the dealership you purchased from. Unfortunately, our our end , we see way too many people trying to get that last dollar out of the dealer, that they make the whole experience stressfull for both themselves and the dealer. Nobody ends up happy. We did finally sell that Yellow 8 last week. If you liked those wheels, you ought to see the 20's I put on my demo. tpryor got some pictures of it the other day when he came up to pick up the 6 his wife ordered and should be posting them soon. I'd do it but haven't figured out how to do it!

looks great, good job on the fender etc. too. I hear ya' on the dealership thing and people trying to squeeze as much as they can. I work in tech support for a huge contract (1300+ people) and people are always trying to get me to do things w/o calling in a ticket first etc. Was that the same yellow that was sitting out by the front entrance ? Sure don't see very many around town, last time I got my oil changed on Burnet they had one on the showroom with aftermarket wheels and tint etc., looked pretty slick.

That was it and we replaced it with the last Yellow one we have. We actually have had a run on the Yellow the last month. Guess people are realizing that its not going to be available for '05 and once they're gone, thats it! Haven't been driving an 8 for a few months now, except for every once in a while getting to drive my wifes, and I'd forgotten what a great car they are, even with their warts!

I bought my rx 8 last month in greenville mississippi, I love my car ,but the first time I washed it by hand the aero flares seem to be yellow? Why would they take yellow aero flares from a yellow car and put them on a white car. I have talk to the dealership and the mazdausa. But nobody can explain it to me, they are going to replace all of them.

I don't know how often he gets to the board anymore, so I can confirm that he does work at Mazda South. He is the Inventory Manager, and a great guy.

If you want to see pictures of Mike and his RX-8 with 20's, look at the link in my signature. Look under "Budaman's RX-8 with 20's" for the car, and "2005 Mazda 6s" for pictures of Mike.

I saw his car at the Austin Auto Show out in front of the convention center, there was also a really nice 3 with 19's on it, those cars look slick with bigger wheels.

Yeah I saw the link, thanks. Just thought if I was in there getting service and he had the car there maybe I could see it in person. Pics don't always do it justice. Not to mention I wanted to see how they rolled the fenders.
