Obviously someone at the age of 30 that has been driving since the age of 16 will have more seat time driving then someone who just turned 16 BUT just because that 30 year old has seat time doesn't make them a good driver by ANY means. I know you've seen people on the highway that are older and can't drive worth a ****, like my mom. I'm only 17 but I can out drive my mom easily. Some people think their good at driving when their not. Age helps but isn't the only thing to consider when talking about skill in regards of driving or anything for that matter. Child prodigee's come to mind??? God given talent also comes into play.
Therefore seat time DOES help (practice makes perfect) but that doesn't make a driver good. If you try hard enough and put your mind to it you can overcome and beat older drivers. You see this happen often...

lol. you sound like you are racing them. which i know is not the point of this. they are not talking about around a track. its about not being a dumbass on the road. i seriously doubt your mom is a more reckless driver than you.

I went to an all-guys private High notorious for legacies who were making their daddy proud. To that end there were a lot of brand new Jettas(mostly GLIs) Mustangs and Saabs (I don't know why). Highlights included a brand new Ram Daytona, Evo (which had just come out) 2 M3s, 72 Chevelle SS, 67 Mustang Fastback, a 350z and my personal favorite a 87 GNX.
Most were well taken care of except for a few Mustangs which ended up wrapped around trees.
I drove a 95 Saturn SL1 with 172k miles.

it all boils down to maturity. an 18 year old who is responsible can take better care of their car then a 50 year old billionaire. the driving also boils down to that as well, TO A POINT. no amount of maturity can replace time behind the wheel.

well arguing about this is futile now. if its just seat time, obviously you guys have the +1 on people like me or WTB rotary. but u cant deny some people are born naturally more skilled drivers, but its not as much you to worry about, but rather the crazy chicks on the road!
and i think its safe to say that most of us (hopefully) can out drive their moms

my car was practical price wise, its fun to drive, and cheap with insurance.
Not every teenager deserves a shitty car. when I'm 30 I'll have a brand new rx ... whatever the new rotary is by mazda..
but a used rx8 is practical, and even a 2010 rx8 would be fine. If the kids been responsible for 16 years then its the parents choice...
my parents felt like i deserved it, i work hard in school and dont disappoint them..
if you guys have problems with 16 year olds having rx8s then dont buy them for your kids..
dont **** on my parade, i love my car.

as long as teenagers dont have the fart cannon civics which involve doing the homo engine reving every second there in neutral then i would approve for everyone that has a license at 16 to get the 8

So, I've been going to school at francis tuttle rockwell campus for some time now.. I haven't lived in Edmond, mostly on te southside, and some of the stuff I see is kinda shocking. Number one, prices for the same restraunts on the S. Side are much higher on the North side (far north, near Edmond), and quality/quantity is MUCH lower. Also, food that is common on the S. Side is rebranded on the northside and sold as a premium.
Anyways, to continue to my point: 16 y.o. whose 1st car is a brand new RX-8. What are their parents thinking??
this school as 3 teen girls who own RX-8's and one male.
All are sporting 2010 models.
Not tooo bad right? All of them have major dings, scratches, and dents in them. 2010 models.
I was in a building last week, and in an enclosed area inside this building. I look out as a Red RX-8 pulls in, and this girl SLAMS her door against the truck next to her (the truck was pretty far away, not like if it was right next to her.) She hit so hard I could hear it through this building and inside a room. She even left the door wedged against it while she was checking her phone, then eyed it a sec, shut her door (didnt check for damages) and chuckled as she walked away with her friend. When she came in, I asked if she knew any mechanics that work on rotaries.
Her response: (looks in disgust for someone actually talking to her) "Rotorrr.... Uh my dad takes it to dealer" then rolls eyes and walks away. Hmm. Smug.
Anyways that's my rant...sorry

agreed, thats part of my passionate love with my 8. theyre different and i like it that way. its great having a tight community of owners. its fun seeing someones baffled face after you tell them that your car doesnt have pistons haha
