Don't do the ground to each coil like I had, that does nothing, since the outside of the coil is insulated.

Installed my HKS DLI II Ignition today. WOW what a difference.

Give me a call if you want some more info. If you get a chance, I'd still like to check out your choppers.

Thanks for the pic. My grounding kit didn't come in this weekend. It should be in this week, so I'll hopefully get to play with everything next weekend.

If you want to head out to Edgard, let me know. I want to get out there next weekend. On sundays all of the heli guys are out there. There is usually a bunch of nice helis.

Also, clear corners on BB looks smokin!!! I'll get pics as soon as I can.

I saw this guy on I-10 near Causeway yesterday. He was doing about 60, so I had to slow down to pull beside him. I admired his 8, revved at him and waved. He gave no response at all. He's definitely not an enthusiast. So, I dropped it into third and took off with the Greddy howling. As far as my 8 goes, I brought it in last week after it died on me yet again! Got it towed to Ducote, again. They replaced the battery which was completely dead and cleared the check engine light which had something to do with the air pump. Well, the light is back on and I have to bring it back again. This is getting old. The employees at Hertz just shake their heads when I come in now. What are the requirements for filing a lemon law claim? Is my car too old?

Dominic- Really blows you're still having issues. I hope desperately you get it straight. You're def in good hands though. I have no idea about the Lemon Laws here ~shrug~ Good luck!!!

H8TED / Roger- You know I'll still be driving something sweet when I'm old. Sep, it won't be an auto-tran and umm I'll take boys like you on a highway! ;-)

Surfrgurl- Hope you had a blast in Panama. And thanks for the b-day wishes!

ps... I'm tellin' y'all, that guy in the white 8 w/body kit & lambo doors is the guy I introduced myself to. He wasn't enthused about our BBQ, wasn't real friendly AND didn't seem a bit interested in our little "RX8Club.com"! Quite frankly boys, he just isn't cool enough for us!

Cool, thanks Monique. It has definitely been in the shop over four times for similar issues, not including recalls or minor problems I have had. But when the car is continually throwing check engine lights, breaking down and having to be towed to the dealer, there is something seriously wrong. My rear bumper is still melted from the time when my cat & coils failed and fire shot out of my tailpipes on the Interstate.
I think I got one of the bad 04 cars. Kieth is doing all that he can to fix the problem, but the real problem is that even they don't know what's wrong with it.
Well, my last rental car was a Mazda 5! I must say, it handled pretty well for a minivan. I would write up a review if anyone actually cared Maybe I'll start writing reviews for all of the craptastic cars I get stuck with when my car is in the shop, lol. I'm trying desperately to keep the faith...

Well, I brought my car to Keith yesterday He called later to tell me that my coils were bad again. He replaced all four with the new and improved versions and is testing it this morning. Hopefully I get it back today and all is well. At least I'm in a mazda 3 this time. I asked Kieth if he could give me a Mazdaspeed 3 or 6 as a loaner instead, yeah right On another note, I had an interesting "spirited run" on I-10 between the West End Blvd. and Elysian Fields exits two nights ago with a 300C Hemi. I'll just say that we have nothing to worry about, at speed at least. I love downshifting into 3rd at speeds that would destroy a piston engine! We stayed almost dead even until the sweeping uphill curve before Elysian Fields...pwned in da twisties bigtime! If my car can stay out of the shop for a month or two, I'll upgrade it further.

Maybe you should get a grounding kit from ebay!

I'm putting mine on this weekend. I finally brought it home from the office and was looking over it and the pictures in the ground kit thread. (https://www.rx8club.com/showthread.p...=grounding+kit)

If you want to come over this weekend while I install it, PM me. I'll be the guinee pig, unless Bill wants to come over and help, since he's already installed one.

I'm pretty psyched about getting it installed.

Also, I think I need to call RB about getting the flash done next week. ;p

Yeah, the last time my coils were replaced, my car ran like a bat outta hell afterwards, then I gradually lost power as they died again. I hope these new coils make a difference. Racing Beat flash and HF cat is definitely on the list if my car behaves. Is the grounding kit supposed to help with the coil problems? If so, I'll get one.

Does that grounding kit do anything to the warranty?
We should move this conversation to the New Orleans Baton Rouge thread.

yes it does help in that it smooths out the idle and nomore flickering head lights and what not *not everyone has every electrical disturbance*. But in all honesty its pointless to buy the cheap ones from ebay, your better off going to a audio shop, buying about 8 ft of 4guage wire, some clamps, and the clamp covers and doing it yourself like i did...its cheaper and its more effective and better looking than that cheap 8guage thing u buy on ebay.

Help if I can!!

Hey modders,

If I can get a kitchen pass tomorrow, I could probably come over and give my two cents. Let me know where you'll be work'n on your car, and when you might be tackling it, and I'll try to swing by.

Well, at the BBQ, Keith said the upgraded coils were much better, they were grounded better, etc. So I'm not sure how much the grounding kit is going to work, but if you check out the thread I posted earlier (and I think Bill posted it also), there supposedly is a benefit. I'm going to run a wire from each coil. Even if it does nothing, I don't mind spending the time, and I have the wires. Meh...neon green zip ties? I have a bunch of them since I use them on the r/c heli.

I'll give you a buzz if I get to it. I'm watching the news and the weather is supposed to be horrible.

Also, I did buy the cheap ebay stuff. People have said it works fine. If it sucks, I'll get new wire.

OK...it looks like tomorrow is going to be scattered showers. If the wind isn't bad, I'm setting the portable canopy up (because the garage looks like a hurricane hit it...oh...wait) and installing the grounding kit. I'll let you guys know what's up.

Alright....If you want to make your way over to Destrehan, we can roll it up in my garage for a few hours... Solves the kitchen pass issue

Let me know.

Bill
