Lol, I think it's a little early to pin point the date just yet.

I knew Steve and Alex were there (I invited them). I said hello before I left. I've never met Chris Ott but I saw him drive up. I would have done the hello's and introductions but I was tied up.

I'm just asking because this past weekend conflicted with everything under the sun pretty much, at least in Austin anyway. There was ACL, Pecan Street Festival, a bunch of spin off concerts from ACL, there would have been a car show but the weather scare pushed it back to this Saturday, they announced it too late or I might have been able to make the BBQ. (argh) Not to mention stuff outside of Austin I would have loved to attend such as the aishow in Arlington etc., several other car shows I'm aware of, some big, some not etc etc. If you're going to do another one, it would be to your benefit to pick a dead **** weekend so more people could be there, I know it gets more complicated than that, and I know sometimes you don't always have that option, but even so, if you start planning it super early you should be able to plan something non-conflicting, just a thought from someone who's a bit bummed they couldn't make it. (and from a fellow pseudo show organizer/volunteer/whatever)

We're going to have scheduling conflicts no matter what date we choose. We can choose a different date than the major fall events (i.e. Sevenstock), but we can't poll the major events and festivals in every city w/in the Quad-State area and make sure nothing is going on. And we can't stop new things from popping up after our date is chosen (i.e. TunerFest in OK). We also have to take into consideration the availability of the BBQ location and availability of BBQ organizers. We're aware that it would be beneficial if nothing else was going on that weekend, but it's easier said than done.

Our goal is to keep making this BBQ a success year after year. Perhaps one day, the BBQ will have made a name for itself and will take precendance over smaller activities and more people will venture out of their comfort zone and come have fun with us. :D

I know, I was joking cause the 24 is a sunday next year. I think we will all need to vote on a date for next year to make sure as many peeps as possible can be there. It's a bummer we missed ya. Hopefully next year!

.......Any date recommendations?????

Lol, that's a good one Jenkins.

Just remember that the earlier we do it, the hotter it will be. My personal preference would be to push it back a few weeks, say mid-Oct.

And I tried to poll everyone about the date and 2 people, if anyone, responded.

Yeah, I figured the 24th woud be a different day next year about 2 seconds after I posted that question...lol...duhhh on me. Anyway, I know logistics on this kind of thing can be a nightmare, I would also say the middle of October might work out better in the future as it tends to be a slower month for festivals/shows/events etc. since it is inbetween the start of Fall and the end of Summer, September is always a busy month as people are still trying to take advantage of the weather etc. (save for this year, where September turned into the "hurricane **** kicking" month) Just throwing ideas out there, ultimately my opinion probably doesn't really matter that much anyway

There is still time to call the calendar companies to get it put on next years as a holiday. Gosh Tiff the nerve of you picking a weekend when other stuff was going on in other states and cities...

I was over at RP this morning picking up spark plugs (it never ends), and we were discussing the possibility of a Spring BBQ.

My vote still goes to spring, but i'll be there no matter when we do it. I also would like to make another push for the parking garage idea. I think it would be very cool.

We're alwyas going to conflict with something. September/October seems to be pretty busy.

Dragon is in September.
Sevenstock is in October.
Sema is in the first week of november.
It's too freakin hot most of the summer.
Rotary Revolution is in April
Tulsa is in the spring.

So we would have to do February-March area or May-June area in order to not compete with anybody major that I can think of off the top of my head (or die from the summer heat).

Sevenstock is a week from saturday so 3 full weeks after our meet. If we moved our meet up 1 week, we'd have a full month to work with between us and 7s but we'd be right on top of Dragon (just like 7s was last year).

I dunno.

We're never gonna please everyone.

Don't bother in trying to get there right now. Way too many people connected to the server. If the situation doesn't subside in a couple hours, I will move the albums somewhere else with a bit more bandwidth. Bear in mind, all these are coming from my poor & trusty DSL line from home.

So what are the scheduling conflicts with either having it between Dragon and SS or between SS and Sema?

That would depend on when SS is... (AND if it even happens)

SEMA dates are already confirmed.

Did anyone in the 4 state region even goto the dragon event?
