Not that I can actually help, but better explanation? Is it stuck locked? Is it not opening regardless of being unlocked?

Realized this a couple weeks ago, but just now remembered and figured I'd post since we had talked about my intake temps being high. I think it probably sucks at idle because it relies on moving air in order to get cool air from outside the engine bay. Here's a couple pics so you can see what I'm talking about...

You can see the intake with the filter under that duct that dumps air right over it.

Here's a better view of where that duct gets air from (small opening facing forward on the left):

The only intake that's really recommended blocks it off from the rest of the engine bay (literally designed to seal off with hood shut) and draws air from the SMIC openings... kind of expensive though, so not really high on my list of things to do.

I owe you dude, you saved me from body work because I was about to kick that ********** open. I would rather install a turbo kit than mess with this BS again. What a hassle, now I have to put the door glass back in and the new latch assembly and hope everything works right after stripping the guts of the door.

Take a look at where they put the turbos...

It's a bit hard to spot the stock turbos in that pic since they're a bit small... here's a better pic with some bigger turbos/better angle.

Yea I wouldn't want to work on that. Looks like you would have to drop the engine for basically everything.

Yep, you have to drop the whole sub-frame and motor to get to the turbos. No fun indeed.

Exactly what the german engineers have in mind. they don't want anyone else but them to work on their cars and charge you up the @ss. lol
After working on the ex's jetta gli multiple times, I decided that I will never own a vw or audi. haha

Sometimes it seems they're experimenting to see how much a person will put up with when it comes tk working on their own car. Stud bolts just aren't a user friendly idea. People get used to it, but it's pretty clear that it's not the best system.

I had to remove 3 covers to change my bettery lol. I had a lot of the common work done so I haven't had to do anything too intense yet. The pain in the *** to fun ratio I's still good for me.

Yeah I changed the plugs on my bosses S55 and it was a PIA. I also had a blow out in that same S55 and changing those wheel bolts is a PIA too, trying to hold up the heavy *** wheel and put the bolt in on the side of the road with cars whizzing by at 80MPH.

There was a recent thread on audizine with the OP was wondering what the advantage was to lug bolts vs lug nuts. The general consensus was that there is not an advantage and that the engineers were being dicks about it.

A few people said that once you figure out how to do it, it's just as fast and easy, but I'm still not convinced. I literally do not see how studs + lug nuts aren't easier, no matter how experienced you are.

The studs can sorta hold the wheel for you. Without them it HAS to be harder.

Fortunately, this is fairly small, but still a bit frustrating. I think my windshield washer fluid sensor might have broken. I'll have to actually pay attention to my water/meth level

That sucks, to fix it you will likely have to replace the whole reservoir.

Sounds like it's time to drop the engine.

When that is needed I have a buddy over at the Southwest Research Lab that can hook him up. The whole garage is German and Romanian engineers who test emissions components all day so they tear apart every new car you can imagine on a daily basis.

I'm hoping not... being able to monitor my water/meth is convenient enough to make me want to replace it instead of just dealing with the warning light. Hoping it changed its mind overnight. I'm about to head to class so I guess we'll see.

I'm down... sounds like a leisurely Saturday afternoon project.
