Wish I had the knowledge, space, tools and time for this, I've never seen the inside of a rotary but only in videos.. Even when I had my 87 GXL for 5 years 'till I sold it my engine never went out. I joined the Z world got bored and came back with an RX8 05 which I think is on its way out....

Anyone hear about Obama trying to push this new E15 bs?? I know it's impossible to find a gas station without ethanol in San Antonio now, just wondering if someone knows where to get gas that doesn't have as much ethanol in it or if our cars are just stuck using this ****?

The difference between e15 and e10 isn't that dramatic.

Calm down dude its not gonna hurt your car.

Matt, test your gas and you will see that most of it already contains more ethanol than you thought. There is no real regulation or control of how much ethanol goes in the gas and you won't find any ethanol free gas locally. Oh and don't get political here, it's against the rules.

Shoot I can pull an engine in a parking lot if needed.

Might take me a little longer but I can get it done.

Not trying to be political no other way to bring up the subject sorry man. Didn't know it was that bad already, just was hoping there was somewhere I could go for better gas guess not..

Im not going to claim "fact" but most certainly probable. ...lol

But I would certainly bring my engine lift to assist

You drive a rotary dude, your seals are gonna pop long before the ethanol effects anything.

if you are boosted and run e 15 --you may need to retune.......
we measure ethanol content around here--some stations have been found to have way too much in it and the drag race crowd get real mean!
Some cars get to the garages with too much ethanol in their gas tanks and it causes running problems.
With the way stations mix their gas/ethanol--you really never know what stoich really is for your car. My station runs between 5-10%--no reason it varies--it just does.
Dont take it out either because you loose octane.
THE WORLD JUST SUCKS!

question--why would my tune start running a little lean--like from 11.4 ( used to) to now a 12.2. this is at a certain rpm range--then goes back to normal. all readings under very similar conditions. IATS--maf--ect's all within a few numbers of each other on the tables used for comparison. Injector duty cycle less than 90% and its not at one of the lean dips the intake causes. Fuel pressure is fine--voltage stable.
What the hell?
Maybe my little sparkplug modification works somewhat?

What rotary engines have seals that wear out over time??? Damn man if I knew that why would I care about adding even more of something thats going to cause them to fail faster that's just crazy! Like 9k said they been adding that much for a while (thanks btw) I didn't know it was that bad here already so give me a break.

why would my a/f's jump from 11.17 to 12.2 from 6-7.2 K rpm at WOT? I know that is the transition point for the apv's--but why change? And that is the only area it does it in?
Is it because my new exhaust system is allowing more air movement and my tune is not enough to compensate? Engine spooling faster etc.
WHY WHY WHY?
Damn car drives me crazy--of course I didnt have far to go anyway.

Good question, how old are your injectors? Any change in fuel pressure at that time?

well 7.2 is when the VDI opens up 6.2 is when the APV opens as you stated.

But anything with valves not opening or partially opening would show a rich condition not lean.

I'd say its injector related, either that or your PCM is starting to relearn its original tune and needs to be re-flashed. Thats what happened to the old e-manage units, the tune would only last so long before the PCM started to re-program itself.

I forget what petit uses but its possible that their tuning solution has the same issues.

I'm just speculating here I have no professional experience with SC'd 8's.

no change in fuel pressure.
I too would think injector--only 1 year since cleaning and balancing---but the a/f corrects itself after 7.7 K rpm with no change in injector duty cycle!!! Yahhhhhh! It is repeatable.
MAF reading is as usual-- i am hauling ***.
No part time vacuum leak that I can see or think off.
I dont have a vdi or an ssv.
Maybe I just need a retune--maybe headers/exhaust has made that big a difference.
May need to go with more gas. Running reds, yellow and uncapped yellows.

Well a clean and test of the injector doesn't mean everything is working correctly. They don't replace critical parts of the injector. They don't do excessive testing, they just test them real quick.
