the rears are easy they are just 6x9s the fronts are a different story if you have the bose system because there is a small amp in the door for the bass speaker and tweeter... if you bought a 4 channel amp and 2 pairs of 6x9s and a set of 1" tweeters, you can run 6x9s in the rear and the doors, and replace the factory tweeters in the pods...

I wonder if just replacing the rears would make a diff in sound quality?

Yes... then set the fade on the radio to 1 setting towards the rear... and turn the "Audio Pilot" off...

did you really expect him to search?.....

And yes different 6x9's in the rear make a difference

If you SEARCH (lol sorry had to) there is a mod bracket for the doors so that we will take 6's or 6x9's, and they were relatively cheap.

I search in the search box for the bracket you speak of but I didn't realize until after I clicked search that I was actually on www.youporn.com and not rx8club.com and then the results distracted me so I forgot all about the damn speaker brackets.

I guess I will do some searching in the Audio forum. Will I lose bass if I go to 6 1/2" vs. the stock Bose? I listen to a lot of deep south booty music so I have to have a little bass .

I actually would prefer a 6.5 over a 6x9 for the front doors. I believe a round cone puts out cleaner sound the a oblong one. This has been Greatly debated else where so I will not go there.....

In a perfect world I would not have rear speakers and have a three way separate component set up in the front doors with a time delay between the doors. I would have a subwoofer somewhere in the cab.

I am having a Really hard time finding much info on that kit Cornholio. I went to there web page and the specks are cool. I could not find the set for sale anywhere.... I found two with corresponding #s but the pics shown were not the same as manufacture pics.

I have actually herd really really really good things about CDT audio component sets. They are suppose to be really good for the price.

The front openings on the doors are btween 8-9".
I found them on ebay

http://cgi.ebay.com/PAIR-NEW-O2-OXYG...item45f08f4423

I buy Performance Audio and Sound magazine and they have reviewed these and gave them great marks. you would have to get an amp to run them in our cars...

So, if I buy that setup and some good 6x9's for the rear I will be set? Would I need anything else?

other things you will need.

4 channel Line out Convertor (to take the bose speaker signals and convert them to RCA)

optional is a passive EQ to shape the sound before it goes to the amp

4 channel amp ( the bose amp in the doors cannot be used with aftermarket speakers and might as well boost the power to the new 6x9s)

Amp install kit ( 4 gauge power wire, ground, remote, 1-RCA cable)
2 6' RCA cables

the amp can be installed in different locations in the trunk area.

as for the brand of amp believe it or not Pep boys now sells Kicker amps and speakers at very good prices...
