you say macs are only good for artst graphics and video etc, which is my point.

i never said IT didnt need hundreds of firewall settings, i said macs dont. which we dont. theyre for artsy peoples personal work, or people like me who know nothing of computers and dont care to. and dont want a new one every 8 months with just as many problems as the last.

And what exactly is your point?! Do you really think TCU has over 500 people working on pictures and video and that are artsy with a staff of less than 3,000? NO. Other people want macs because they are the "in" thing, the big wigs have to have them, and of course they want access to secure files etc too! People don't live in the little ideal world --->your<--- talking about it. And sadly it’s my job to make sure ALL of the macs on campus are secure regardless of who uses them. In our env firewalls are a must on client machines no matter what you may believe, if for no other reason than to please all the auditors.

Further, your logic is stupid. If IT needs hundreds of firewall settings, and IT support Macs, then macs don't need firewall settings?! *facepalm*

That goes double for your non sense idea that computers break every 8 months. I buy a computer from Dell, HP, etc, it breaks in 8 months therefore ALL PC's break in 8 months?! Hardware wise, macs are no different than PCs. Apple just handpicks all their parts and then charges you a premium for it. I hand build all my PCs. I've got one older than your high school and college lifetime still running strong.

LOL, premium pay?! No, I was happy to be getting a 10 grand raise. It paid for the little one's nanny. Its still 30% below the median of the area.

10% raise is a 10% raise. Just because you turned around and spent it immediately doesn't make the increase in pay any less.

Actually it was more than 10% (more like 20%+) considering 40k times .1 is 4k..... So many people with bad math skills....

That being said, what exactly is your point? I never said I didn't like the increase in pay, I said I didn't like the job. The two aren't mutually exclusive you know.

Further, I'm only disputing your idea that still getting underpaid while getting a 20%+ raise is somehow "premium pay"

That'd be your math skills we're talking about. You're the one that mentioned 10%. I just knew you said it was a raise over your old job.

I realize that. So find another job and quit about it.

"premium" referred to the fact that you got a pay raise with your new job. I know I'd call it a premium if I got a 20% raise.

If you're underpaid, then find a job paying what you're worth (or something near it at least).

And if you hate macs (I know I do), I find a baseball bat helps.

So now you've proved that your reading skills are just as bad as your math skills. I said I got a 10 GRAND raise, not a 10 PERCENT raise. Big difference.

You say that like it's such an easy thing to do. How long did it take for you to get a job after being out of work????

"A" premium maybe, but not the salary "IS" premium. How you word things matter.

See above, easier said than done.

If it wouldn't get me fired, I would in a heart beat. Though to be fair, that would be a huge waste of "premium" hardware. I'd rather just format the OS and put Win 7 on it (and probably swap the vid card too)

I'd say it's more my skimming skills when reading the update email on my phone while walking from one meeting to another. As such, math skills never came into play.

So are you actively looking? Also, it's always easier to find one when you have one.

Looks like your reading comprehension failed you here after calling me out. I said "the premium in pay". I never said your pay was premium.

Pick up an apple IIe or the like from a discount electronics store. The stress relief is worth it.

Yes, and I've already gotten an offer that I turned down. They wanted to pay me 60k (still 10k below the median) to work 60 hour weeks. I said "no thanks" and moved on. Plus I got TCU to give me a slight raise with the new budget cycle with the offer I had in hand. At the very least its nice to now that A. a company agressively wanted my skill set (or thinking skills) (even with their poor offering they immediately stopped the interview process after mine) and B. that my current company did everything in their power to keep my skills.

I actually reread your quote before I posted that just to make sure. Your sentence is ambiguous and debatable on meaning. It can be taken two ways, referring to the raise or referring to the total pay. So I'll call it a draw and move on.

Are we seriously having a PC vs. Mac argument in here??? -_-

On a completely unrelated note, what's been going on around here recently? I've been quite busy between my two jobs and other life hassels; been incognito

Also, Scott, were you the one who, at the pre-state meet cruise, had asked me if I'd ever be selling my shinka wheels? I'm going to be swapping out soon, making said wheels available in the somewhat-near future, incase you may be interested. Or anyone else for that matter

Alright Nick. With Google+ coming out I have to wonder if you will EVER embrace anything remotely looking like social media. How the hell you stay connected with people is beyond me.
