I hydroplaned on the tchoupitoulous ramp heading back to the westbank going 35mph.

I am okay. Just a few bruises from the seatbelt. Air bag didn't even come out and they declared it totaled. I will miss the 8 and I'm undecided on my next vehicle.

Well, we're glad you're OK. Sorry they decided to total your 8. It really dind't look that bad. Guess your insurance company doesn't like that they just paid out to get a new engine after the flood. You really aren't having a lot of luck with raun, huh? ;p

Driving back from slidell today and one of the plastic panels underneath the car came loose...the one on the passenger side. I didn't hit anything so I don't understand what happened. I never did like those plastic panels.

 

LOL well thats nothing all my plastic peices including the front under spoiler are gone.

 

Was that done on purpose? Or did you hit something?

 

Why would I do it on purpose. Of course I hit something. I ran over a curve doing 100 long story .

I called Keith today to see about ordering new parts. He's fishing. Lucky dog! Anyways, he said the plastic panels underneath the car are just to keep stuff from flying up into the engine compartment. I figured some people might not want to deal with them. I kind of don't want to. But, blah, I'm going to replace the one that came off.

 

hehe yea, don't worry about those. Only major worry about that missing is that your engine bay might get muddy. hehe =)

Anyway, i'll be in Utah elk hunting for the next 2 weeks *yea yea big redneck, get it out your systems*. But its my way to get away from the hell of working 6 days a week. ZZzzzz See you guys in 2 weeks =)

Within the last few days, I've seen soooo many 8's driving around. It really makes me miss my 8.

 

What's up people?...First let me say that I don't have an RX-8, I have a Mazda 6 but there doesn't seem to be any active members on the 6 forum from New Orleans, so I figured I'd drop by here since I see quite a few 8's around town.

I know I have not been on for a while, but my 8 now has 30,000miles on it. It is currently parked at ULL's campus due to a bent rim from me hitting a pothole in new orleans. Both of my rear tires have no tread on them because i drove back to Lafayette not knowing the damage was that bad. I feel stupid and sad... also to fix it im gonna need 1200. Anyone wanna give a poor kid some money? lol jk

Thanks for the encouraging words. They are greatly appreciated. Unfortunately I have some bad car news. Because of my healrh situation and ongoing medical problems, I no longer have the 8. I traded it in (along with our Kia Sorento) for a Mazda CX 7. This was due to the possiblity that I may not be able to drive a standaerd again, and financial concerns over the medical bills. When I traded the car in on Saturday I literally threw up because I was so upset over the situation.
I hope to still meet with everyone on get togethers. I will also be checking the board on a regular basis. The CX 7 I got is Pearl White with a black leather interior. It is nice but it is definitely not as much fun as the 8!!!!!

Don't throw anything at me for doing this. Also, I have a brand new set of Racing Beat Springs for the 8. If you are interested, email me at astrox@ix.netcom.com and make me an offer. I hope to see everyone soon, we really need to have another get together.

I have a red 07 with the tail feather. I live in Metairie and look fwd to meeting other area members. hurricane season will be over soon and Lake shore dr. is looking better. maybe a sun after noon meet on the lake.
