Hey guys and gals, I'm sorry to say, I have parted ways with the 8. I recently traded the 8 in on a new 2007 Toyota Tundra double cab with the 5.7 v8. It was a very difficult decision, but a mature one that I had to make. I was almost at the end of warranty and with all the mechanical problems that I have had with my car, it was time. I'm in the process of renovating two houses and constantly waiting to use my dad's truck was a pain in the ***. Also, my dog, a boxer, is an 80 lb behemoth and would struggle to crawl in and out of the back seat. He would get dog hair and drool everywhere. The new Tundra is much more convenient for me and him. Oh, and it doesn't hurt that it hauls ***! 381 hp, 400 lb ft of tq., Toyota service and reliablity. Dynos show these numbers to be very accurate, unlike the 8. The regular cab 5.7 can hit high 13's-low 14's stock! The double cab that I have is as fast or faster than an 8 in a straight line. It can hit 14.4-14.6 stock. Of course it won't stay stock for long. I forgot how enjoyable torque can be There is nothing like mashing the gas and hearing that huge v8 scream and push you back into the seat. I had to twist some ***** on the trade-in value though. Dealer tried to offer me $11,500 on my trade! After many threats, I was able to get blue book value of $15,500, which ******* sucks since I paid twice that. I bought the metallic gray SR5 with the sport package which has color keyed fascia and bumpers. I get a lot of compliments. I'll probably post a review in the general automotive section with some pics. Once I get my intake and exhaust I'd like to run an 8 and see what it can do. I ran a new 06 civic si on I-10 and pulled away easily. I will definitely miss the handling and looks of the 8 and the loud-*** greddy exhaust I'll still check-in here every once in a while. Have fun with your 8's for me!

The box is amazing nice tho, i got mine from a forum member i found on a search but if u hit me up one weekend, i'vve been wanting to see if i can copy it or make my own. I'm very handy with fiberglass.
We gotta meet so I can listen to it. I like how my sub hits but I want a lil more room in the trunk.

I've been working alot. and I mean alot. I averaged 80 hrs a week and I beat my co-workers by working 101 hrs a few weeks ago. Also I'm taking classes to become a residential appraiser. Yes, between work and school, I lost my mind.Work is starting to calm down now,Thank god cuz the 8 is a freakin mess.I did some traveling in July. I went to Arkansas, the Indy Speedway, Lancaster Ohio and the Omish country of Ohio. But other than work and school, nothing is new here. hmmmm let me see..... Oh I need a new tire. thats about it. The cheapest I can get it is $240. (which is one hell of a bargain for a 275/30/19 Nitto nt555.) Im gonna still check around for more prices. Anyway Im trying to spend more time doing stuff around the house, so I'll try to keep in touch with you guys.

,Roger

Did you check the place on Vets across from Ruth's Chris? That's where I got 4 new ones. I think the total came to around $850, but that was on the tax holiday weekend.

Hello Everyone,

It's been a while but all of the Racing Beat Stuff I put on is doing well. I am still enjoying the hell out of my 8 and no matter what IceCold and Toeknee say, I don't want a truck!

J also wanted to let everyone know I will not be on the message board for a while, I just found out I need heart surgery. The date is September 13th at Ochsner so if anything happens, do not raid the car for parts too quickly. Please wish me luck and everyone take care until I return.

Monique has offered to take care of my car...

Mike S.

Thanks Guys!

The problem wasn't the BBQ, it is complications from being a life long diabetic. Thank's for asking however. I will post an update as soon as I can, or maybe even convince Monique to post one.

My girlfriend has Juvenile type 1 diabetes. She has had it since she was ten or so and now she's 24. She watches what she eats, checks her blood sugar and takes insulin religiously. I still worry about her having complications, however. Are you having complications because you may not have been as strict in doing these things, or is it inevitable to a certain degree that one will have problems later in life? Anyhow, best of luck to you.

Thanks NightmareX!

Ice Cold,

I have been a Type 1 Diabetic since I was 6 and I am now 43. I have always been a fairly "good" diabetic, but I have had the disease for a long time. Diabetes is an insidious disease that people do not take seriously, it is unfortunate. Diabetes itself doesn't kill people, it's the complications it causes. Your girlfriend should be hopeful however, there has been a lot of medical progress since I became diabetic and it is getting better all the time. Even with my current situation, I hope to get through this and then chug along for at least another twenty years!

Just tell her to keep it under control and she will be fine.

Best of luck to her and thanks for asking,
Mike

BTW The Saints did not look good. Hopefully the Tigers will do better.

Hi everyone.

Yup... I'm still kickin it. Things have been hectic & busy for me lately.

I'm here to let you all know Mike is doing well. His doctors are pleased with the procedure! I'll keep you all updated. Connie (Mike's wife) called my around 3 or so this afternoon. He'll be in ICU for a while but I'll let you all know when he can have visitors and receive calls.

I read a little but still have catching up to do. Dominic- Congrats on the truck, that was a smart decision for you. I am 16th on Peakes list for the new M3!!! Woooohooo... I cannot wait for that bad boy. I do still plan on keeping the 8. Hey I bought Des an 08 Mazda 3 two weeks ago.

Well I gotta run. Hope to catch up soon!

oxox :]

-M

ps... I still have faith & geaux tigers!!!

pss... We need to plan another meet!!!

Update:

Mike is doing good! He is still in ICU and has a breathing tube. Connie says he's getting aggravated with it but that's a good thing. lol. With his kidney "issues" he hasn't yet flushed out all the anesthesia. As soon as he can breathe well on his own and stay awake they'll remove the tube. They're hoping to have him moved to CCU tonight or tomorrow and in his own room by Monday.

Hey Mike-
looks like I'll be taking you for that ride in the M3 next spring after all! :-}

Really good to hear that Mike is okay. He is always smiling everytime I see him.

So its official... I wrecked my car on the 14th and yesterday it was declared totaled. I don't think I'm gonna get another 8, so I wont be on the forums as much but I will still be lurking about seeing updates on your 8's.

I managed to take a few things off...

Racing Beat Catback - Sold
Revi Ram Air Duct - $100
Vr Aero Rear Flares - $160 (Needs 3M Tape)\
K&N Drop in Filter - $25

I'll take pics of the items asap.

See ya around

-Tony
