I was nice until he said he was writing me for it (He was a dick). So, I can temporarily mount it and the charges will be dropped? I took note to look for how many people actually do not have front plates and it's about 1 in 15 (Got to see a MK IV too!) I am certain I only got the ticked BC I was downtown, 15th street and Guadalupe.

You guys might want to read this.

I know a new law went into effect for 2012 about license plates.

I think that even though you have a ticket, there are no penalties for it.

http://www.tmcec.com/public/files/Fi...s-in-texas.pdf

Also, an interesting loop hole to consider:

"The law, as amended, addresses Judge Meyers’ dissent about the ambiguity of the placement of the front plate to instead provide that a person
commits an offense if the person operates a motor vehicle that does not display two license plates"

You could technically just display both of them in the rear....

Yes; this is what I did (in Plano, Tx), you just need to go up there and explain to them the citation you recieved and let them know that you have mounted the license plate that was missing (try to make it look semi-profesional.) Then an officer will go out to your car and take a look at it real quick, if it looks good then they will drop the charge.

And Yes thanks Craven, btw sorry to hear about your wreck (glad your OK.)

You also make want to look up a story that was all over the news were they literally "forgot" to re-pass the law that states you have to have front license plate. So then again you probably shouldn't have recieved a citation in the first place. ask when you go there and let us know!

Been stopped twice for no front license plate.
1. On interstate 10 on the way to San Antonio. State Tropper. All he did was ask me alot of quetions about the 8. He was a young male. Gave me a written warning.

2. Local cop. Asked for insurance and license. When i produced the insurance paper it was a week expired. Told him, I am out of my town, so insureance paper is at home. Will get it when I get back home. Have been out of town for over 2 weeks.

He then just threw the old insurance paper and my license into my wallet. He then said, mount your license plate, I am giving you a VERBAL warning and then sped off.

Brother in law is a retired state tropper. He says he has caught a few by way of the front license plate. Ie He being in front, seeing the car approach him, he was able to run the license plate way before if he had waited to see the rear license plate

Either way, my front license plate is staying on the front windshield. So legally, I still have 2 showing. One front, one rear. The bumper thing will be a point I will fight in court if I ever have to go to court.

Like the law says, one front one rear. so if the front is considered the front bumpet then the rear has to be the rear bumper. I will have a good day with that argument. Hope it never comes

To along with Myardor, I live in a small suburb in north FW caleed Blue Mound. If you must know the cops in blue mound are the a**holes that get kicked from other departments because they have too many a**holes. I put my front plate in my windshield about a year ago and have gotten pulled over in blue mound alone about 6-8 times. Never ticketed once for the plate. If it was really against the law they would've given me a ticket. This is the same town that gave me a ticket for out of date inspection because I had a broken foot and couldnt drive my car for 8 months. When I was pulled over I still had the boot on. A**holes.
So in the windshield it stays and they can pull me over all they want. They just cant get my money.
