dEvacuation - Checking in...

HIX8 home safe & sound back in the Clear Lake area. I-10 was smooth sailing. Except for one severe interruption of getting rear ended at Shulenburg. I would say that it was an unpleasant experience except that the chicks in the car that slammed into us were hot. A pair of UofHouston students. Even the blonde cop who documented the incident was a cutie.

I guess if you have to be rear ended...

Ok, on a serious note: While no one was injured in our crash, the reason why traffic came to an abrupt standstill (where I subsequently got smashed) was for an SUV rollover that looked horrible. A chopper was called in to get them out of there.

While the chicks who hit us got a face full of airbags, we had surprisingly little damage. The bumper did its job. We were in a Saturn, by the way. My 8 was garaged for the duration.

Ironically, I originally wanted to evacuate in the 8. Would have sucked even worse if it happened to my baby.

...or maybe a reason why it happened was because we were driving an "invisible" car. Hmm.

Took me 17 hours to make a normal 1 hour and 45 minute trip. Highway 59 was rediculous. My 8 would have ran out of gas had i taken it. All that idling would have been a gas guzzler.

I'm ok--I ended up riding the 'storm' out at the house. We lost power for about 2 days though, and I still don't have DSL at the house.
