Austin/Cedar Park/Leander 8's
well so far it sounds like another engine is going into it, unfortunately they couldn't do my compression test today since my wheel key was not in the car in the exact place that it always is and exactly where I've kept it since getting my locking lugs for my wheels, and evidently they have to pull the front wheel off to get at the plugs etc. I know for a fact they're accessbile with the wheel on, but maybe they need extra access for tools or something, either way they couldn't find my key today, so I'll be digging for it when I get home. This car may be going up for sale soon, as much as I cringe at the thought of starting over with something else, I'm about fed up with how unreliable this thing has been.
(I think mine was built on a Friday or something)

Thing is, car's paid for in September, so getting something else is really financial suicide for me, but on the other hand, I have to have something I can drive every day obviously so....grrrr.
Right now there's about 3 cars I'd be interested in, the 135i, a 370z, or a Genesis Coupe. I could go with a used vette or another Rx-8 as well (maybe even an R3?) but I've driven a 135 and it was awesome, ($$$ but awesome) I know it has to be something sporty (coupe basically) I can play in the twisties with that I can also have fun modding etc. Right now the easiest thing would be to keep mine, which is probably what's going to happen as there are no existing cars that excite me much, and the thought of financing another first year car (which all of the ones I like are save for the 135) isn't sitting too well right now. I'm not 100% certain I could get financed as it is anyway, so unless I were to get some lofty amount for my car as a trade or if I were to sell it etc. I'm pretty sure it's going to be mine for quite some time. I'll know more when I get it back, if I'm driving it and I just get the feeling that I'd be happier with something else than that's it, I'll go for something else.
Life's too short to be unhappy with your ride right?

haha thats the truth...my cars been sitting for the past week and ive been driving the '07 tahoe and have been missing the 8...
hopefully this next engine will be the reliable link between you and the livestrong car, BTW what is the new warranty on '04 8's???

Well this is the 2nd replacement engine, car has been quite the bargain when you think of it, you buy any other car and you only get 1 engine with it, mine has come with 3 so far
I'm guessing I'm covered until 100k. I'm at 81k right now so if it goes again I'll be buying something, either a new engine or a new car

Found out earlier the replacement engine is a go, just have to wait for them to get it in and install it etc. I was pretty sure I lost compression and it sounds like like the car failed the test so it gets engine #3. In the meantime I'm renting a pt cruiser, which is actually not so bad as I can throw my bike in it this weekend and finally go ride with some peoples

R.I.P. #2.

Be sure you get the new chip; service varies by location.

What about removing your upgrades when new engine is done, sell old yeller, buy a pre-owned RX8 std.shift/std.engine (low prices now) & reinstall upgrades ??

LD.

I'm not buying another one of these unless it's brand new and I'm the ONLY owner, besides, if I went with a different vehicle and sold this one or whatever, I would definitely try something else aside from another 8. I won't put myself through another 5 years of one of these with the way this one is treating me, no way no how, absolutely not.
haha youve had some bad luck, the only bad thing thats happened to me so far is bald tires and the inability to buy new ones because of the cost of the 18" tires. well if youre looking at getting rid of it in the future i would look at buying the metra kit and wiring harness along with those rims

nope, R3 or bust
Seriously though, I'd be an idiot to bail on this thing with it almost being paid for, best thing for me to do is just stick it out and hope the new engine works out. If I get it back and it's still problematic then I'll have to start thinking about whether to keep it or not. Who knows, I may wind up being the first 8 with an Ls1 in it

haha mines not an engine problem just a problem with the lead foot and loving to take corners at high speeds while i keep traction...for the most part. hows that GTO treating you with the nearly 450 ponies? i havent been back to the show lately so i havent been able to take a look at that muscle.
this weekend I'll be up to the usual shenanigans, but this time I'll probably have a bike with me
I'm almost ready to finish putting my pseudo new one together, got the freecoaster taken apart tonight so all that's left is...everything

I would put in a LS3 if I had the choice. LS1s are awesome but theres no replacement for displacement, and 436hp stock! :P
Ls3, 1 or whatever, just Ls-something is all I was talking about,
best bet would probably be an Ls7 but the prices of those compared to the 1 or 3 seems to be pretty significant, who knows, just an idea since nobody has done an 8 like that yet.
(all I've seen is 20b's and 1
2jz, I haven't seen a small block done yet)

how about that new ls9 concept coming out with the new camero's.................if those ever get released. haha i wouldnt mind having a 2jz with a big *** turbo, i could cruise then
waiiit i already cruise

Canary, thats why i didnt say LS7, those things are stupid expensive. But I guess for a hand built engine, you get what you pay for.
anyone good with tools/have tools ^_^?
if mm gets the turbo done on time, it should be in sometime march 27 - april 10, anyone able to asist/ probably do the hard part of getting the manifold and injectors in ?

The LS9 is in the Corvette ZR-1 right now. The LS3 is going to be the V8 option in the Camaro. The only thing I can think youre thinking is the Z/28 concept. That will have the LSA engine, which is 6.2 supercharged, 560hp.

I just want it back at this point, I miss my car and being able to take corners at any speed I feel like
