Anyone in TX with "deep" sea fishing hook-ups
I'm flying out to visit my father in Austin on the August 31st and we are planning on heading out for a day of fishing.
Anyone know or recommend anywhere/anyone ?
If I ask if they have a USCG discount it could be negative thing.
LOL :D

There are a bunch of fishing boats you can charter off of Port Aransas. I have gone a couple of times... once I got skunked and sea sick as all hell, the second time I caught a Snapper.

Cgrx,
I have a good friend who has a charter boat out of Port Aransas Texas. He also lives in Austin like your dad. It is a 35 foot Bertram which has capacity for 6 people. The boats name is "Backlash" and you can see it here http://www.texascharterfleet.com/por...%20fishing.htm His is picture #17. His standard rate is $100 per hour. I've been out fishing with him several times, He really knows the waters off the coast
and we have always caught fish. Ron is also a car guy, mostly 70's muscle cars
GTO's, Hemi GTX, Cuda and others. Let me know if you need his direct phone number. I cant say he will cut you any deal over his usual $100 per hour.
It cost's a lot to feed those two diesel engines. You will have fun whatever you do with your dad.

HAHA 2 fish. A kingfish ( third from the right hanging - I think) and a decent sized red snapper. There were about 25 people so the fish had alot of choices on hooks =)
