[DFW] Any +/- experience with Eldorado Mazda Service Department?

I heard a lot of good comments about Town North, but they are a little far way and don't open on Sat. I work in McKinney, so Eldorado is the closest. I didn't have a very good experience with their sales guys when I tried to get a quote from them last year. Don't know anything about their service department. Any input is appreciated.

If you dealt with Floyd for your quote I am sorry, he is useless and shouldn't be allowed around customers. The lady that runs internet sales was great, she did my whole deal before I walked in. The service department I have dealt with twice, they did what they said they would in a reasonable amount of time. They weren't amazing but I hate dealing with that department anyway. Just my experience. I think it's worth giving them a shot, they did ok by me.

I can't say anything about their service department, but when I bought my car from Freeman, El Dorado had the EXACT car I wanted on their lot. Freeman was fantastic to deal with but didn't have the car so I asked if they could get it from El Dorado and I was told that no other Mazda dealership in DFW deals with El Dorado b/c of some bad thing they did. Just my 2 cents...

I had an o2 sensor replaced in my old miata there. The work was fine. I was just mad that I could have done it myself with a generic one for like 150!

I was thinking about taking my new miata in there since it's close to home and they're also a chrysler dealership, and can deal with my D/C extended warranty without crap.
I love Town North though.

Thanks for the reply. I don't remember the name of the Eldorado sales guy I dealt with. I have S-Plan and asked for the total out the door price with TTL. Town North and Hancock replied promptly with itemized and total cost. Eldorado just said "probably around", "about" and wouldn't give me a straight answer after I asked several times. Both Eldorado and Hancock had exactly what I wanted (05' Titanium 6sp Sport), so I went to Hancock. Smooth transaction, out the door in ~45min and got a better rate than my credit union.
I am going to take my 8 in for the first oil change and TSB 04-006/04 (squeak front brakes). I usually do my own oil change, but heard the oil filter can be very tight out of the factory. I think I will give Eldorado a try.

Bluesunlion, I have a 94 M Edition Miata too. Love it (my user name)! But I will be selling it soon

I think the internet dept contact I dealt with was named Pat, she was great. I has S-plan as well and sent her 1 email. She replied with a full breakdown of packages and cost on an excel spreadsheet in about 10 minuites. That was the price I walked in and left with. The issue came with the car I wanted, Nordic, Chapp leather, Automatic. Well we found one but it is 350 miles away we'll have this old guy drive it in he will be nice to it...Or you can wait for 3 weeks.. The way Floyd handled the whole thing was horrible.

Anyway enough rambling, give them a shot they should do fine.

Went in Saturday morning to get wheel sensors checked out, the light was flashing no matter the pressure. They replaced two of them. Took longer than they said initially (to be expected) but they gave me a loaner 6 so I could run Saturday errands. They did a good job.

S-Plan

For anyone who has used or got a quote based on S-Plan, is Dest Charge added on top of documented S-Plan base and option prices or is it included? Also, is there no "doc fee" added as it seems to imply? It sounds like the only things added are taxes and title stuff.

Coop, thanks for the update! I will probably drop my car there either this or next week depending on how busy at work. Thanks again!

The S-Plan price should be based off of what options you add to the car. Destination, tax, title, any other fees should be on top of s-plan. I'm not 100% sure, but that's what it sounded like when I bought mine.

Dest charge is a separate line item. S-Plan actual list its pricing for the base vehicle and the individual options. Dest charge is the same for everybody.

94- My 99 10AE is in the shop as we speak for a couple of extended warranty items.
Thus far, they've done all I've asked them to do in a timely manner. Got an update yesterday afternoon on what they thought the problem was, as well as where they were in the process. I'm happy thus far, and hope I can get my "other baby" back today. (they have to get some repairs approved through the ext warranty place before they started fixing stuff, as I didn't want to pay for an antenna mast if warranty doesn't cover it.)

UGH. ok, I take back all the neutral stuff I said.
We picked up the car Friday at 6:45 or so, drove it home, and left to go to the movies at stonebriar around 8:30 in said "repaired" car.
We got about 4 miles down 121, and all the sudden the power drops. My husband downshifts, and NOTHING.
Then the raw gas smell, and thank god they don't have all three lanes open so we had a place to dive out of traffic.

Needless to say, a fuel line was stripped/not clamped or ripped, or otherwise f***ed up. (the work that was done involved taking the intake and guts apart) I'm damn glad that the gas didn't ignite, since it sprayed all over the engine compartment. You could see the fumes when we popped the hood.
So, we spend 1.5 hours waiting for a flatbed to arrive, since you can't exactly tow a miata easily with a regular tow truck. The tow truck finally arrives, and takes it back to Eldorado.
While loading and unloading the car, OEM front lip gets scraped and cracked, which I haven't dealt with yet, but adds insult to injury.
They're telling me it'll be tuesday before I can pick it up.

Needless to say, next time i'm taking it to Town North, where I get my 8 serviced.

Eldorado better get it right before I pick up my car.

PS. In their defense, Linda the service advisor was very nice and apologetic. I'm pissed at the greasemonkey that jacked the car up in the first place.

blue, sorry to hear about what happened to you miata That's some scary moment. Hope everything will work out okay.
I have had pretty bad luck having car fix on Monday and late Friday. So, usually I will try to avoid these time slots along with the day before or after a holiday. I have been really busy at work, so it may take me a while before I will have time to take it to Town North. Hmm, maybe I will just have Oil change done first in Eldorado (I have about 3700 miles).

Well, so now I'm at week 1.5 (cumulative) without the miata. I'm hoping to get it back today.
On Monday, their customer service manager (or whatever) called me and wanted to see if the work that was done was ok. She got a civil earful.

Ok, an update. I finally got the car back Friday July 1st in the AM. My husband drove it most of the week, then I drove it to work on Friday the 8th. On the way home from work, the CEL came back on. I took it in to Town North, and it's the same problem that I originally took it to Eldorado to fix in the first place.
Eldorado has said they'll waive the labor, but frankly, there's about a 100$ delta between them and Town North, and considering Eldorado's lack of technical expertise, I'll pay a bit more and let TN take care of it.

PS: My extended warranty sucks. They haven't paid for crap thus far. So, I've just made the first payment on my used miata, and will have spent about 1K in stupid repair work by the end of the week.

I'm sorry to hear this. Can you cancel your extended warranty? I was told I could do that when I bought my 8.
