Career Change help in DFW

Hi,

I don't remember seeing a job network thread or topic on here before so I hope I am not breaking some sort of rule, but I am just looking for some assistance from fellow RX-8 owners in DFW.

I recently quit my job due to boredom and I am looking for something else. I was the Director of Marketing for a commercial construction company in Dallas for about 2 years. I went to Texas A&M and graduated in 2002 with a degree in marketing. I also have a Graduate Certificate in marketing from SMU.

I am searching for a job in marketing for any sort of company. Of course my experience in with the A/E/C industry but I am open to whatever. I am not very interested in business development or sales…more interested in a large clients marketing department or an agency.

If you all can think of anything you have seen or anybody you know who might be able to help I would forever indebted to you. Thanks!

I found 10 positions searching the marketing area, but none are in Texas. 3 in Virginia, 1 in Penn, 3 in Maryland, 1 in Cali and 1 in New Jersey.

I also found one that is a virtual position. Here is what experience/education is required: Bachelors degree in an engineering/technical discipline from an accredited college in a related discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education, with 20 years or more of professional experience; or 18 years with a related Masters, or 15 years with a related PhD degree. Viewed as the most senior authority in discipline.

Let me know if you qualify and I can send you additional information.

Would you please post your resume? It has two benefits. The first if you put your resume in as many hands as possible it is more likely those people are to pass your resume along to others. Two it allows people to evaluate you as a person and make educated decision on whether or not to help you.

All I have to say is when I was in a similar situation last year around this time and it took 8 months to get a job. So i know where you are coming from. If there is any help I can provide let me know. I will pass your resume if I come across anything.

Dazy,

I appreciate your help but I don't think I am really qualified for that position. I am only 25, so 20 years of professional experience is still a ways out for me. However, thank you very much for searching, I really appreciate your help.

8 is enough,

Thanks for your interest and suggestion. Here is my resume. I don't always put all this stuff on here but I thought I would lay it all out for you all.

So let me get this straight, you bailed on a director level position becuase you were "bored"? Seems like an awfully silly reason for quitting, but hey, it's none of my bidness anyhow.

Yes, I was bored. I had been bored for about 2 years doing something that I didn't really give a damn about. It was alright for a few years and we did a lot of good for the company but doing marketing for a construction company isn't what I want to do for the rest of my life. I just want to get some other experience doing something else in marketing.

ahh, ok, I see now, makes a little more sense. Probably not a whole lot of marketing you can do for construction..I mean what's your slogan going to be? "we build stuff!" that's cool, good luck on your future job, might want to look into Austin, GSD&M are here and they post jobs all the time
