Rotary Resurrection Review 3-14-15
On this date I received my Rebuilt Renesis engine from Kevin at Rotary Resurrection.
His website was very helpful in helping me decide what to do and when the engine needed to be rebuilt.
I decided to pull the engine myself using his Thread - https://www.rx8club.com/series-i-tec...w-pics-178937/
It was very helpful and made the experience easier.
Once pulled I delivered the engine to him in person. He was very professional and spent a good time answering all my questions and even showing me around his shop explaining the process, parts, and possible upgrades I could get.
Not long after 3-5 days I received an email detailed with all the pictures of the engine. Unfortunately it was in bad condition and required extra parts. He sent me several options to choose from. Cheap options to expensive options. Was extremely helpful and catered to my needs. I also needed new accessories that he was able to get for me significantly cheaper than anywhere else. (oil injectors and rebuilt OMP lines)
After choosing the route it was not 2-3 days later that he had it painted assembled and ready to pick up. At pick up he had a packet with everything I needed to know to re-install. Oil priming, break in procedure and a disk with disassemble and assembly pictures.
Once home I re-installed the engine and had made the mistake of not marking injector lines. After doing everything in the packet I started it. Not knowing I had mixed up the injector plugs.(I checked them several times thinking I had them correct)
Once running it had a constant miss-fire and had me baffled as to what was wrong.
In fear of messing the engine up I emailed Kevin telling him the symptoms and everything I had already checked. He quickly responded, although impossible to diagnose something with out seeing in person. He told me what he thought it was and lo and behold My fiance found the mistake.
(light green - dark green injector wire plugs had been swapped)
Would not have looked if not for his tech support.
Once problem was fixed it ran like a dream and continued with his break in procedure. Currently at 600 miles on the engine and will update as I go.
Starting is now crisp (hot starts perfectly) and have had absolutely no issues.
Gotta wait till 1000 miles to pass 4k RPM.
Over all
Pricing is unbeatable
Communication was Excellent and I can always count on him to email me back even after his job had been completed.
Build Quality is perfect had all parts in stock and was no wait time for unforeseen problems. (new crank, bearings, housing, and OMP lines)
I highly recommend him to anyone needing a rebuild.

Great review! Any update on the power, drivability, and gas mileage after the rebuild??

I had a similarly great experience with Rotary Resurrection. Same good things to say, though my rebuild took several weeks. (My engine was trashed; Kevin had to obtain the replacement parts for it.)
I'm glad to hear your experience went so well and your car is up and running!

If you don't live near Rotary Resurrection…
(After 10 years and over 36K miles my engine is running as smooth and strong as the day I bought the car - maybe even stronger?)
But… thinking ahead… should I ever need a replacement engine, how do you work it if you don't live in the area? I live in NY. Would the smartest thing be to have my local Mazda dealer ship my engine to RR, and then have them return it to my dealer for installation? Or do people make the trek to Tennessee, spend some vacation time down there while the work is done, and then drive home? Just wondering.

I think the OP said he pulled his himself. I also pulled mine out myself. That saves a lotta money. I drove mine up to RR since he's not too far away. I think he can help you arrange shipping if needed.
Kevin was quite amused when I picked up the rebuilt engine and stuck it in the front passenger seat of my G35 coupe to drive home... Haha.

I get engines and cars from all over the country and people use a variety of methods to get them to/from me.
I can take just the bare engine block with all accessories removed; I can take the entire engine assembly as it is removed from the car with accessories and wiring still installed; I can take the entire car for a turnkey remove/install job that you drive home.
People wanting to bring the whole car sometimes drive it (if it runs well enough). Or they use a medium or large truck and trailer, or borrow one/both from a friend or family member, and pull it here themselves. If you have a truck but not a trailer you can rent a trailer or dolly. There are also auto shipping services that will haul the car for you for 5, 6, 700 bucks. You can usually do it for 1/2 or 1/3 that much yourself, but some people can't be bothered to do that and just pay the shipper. Then when it comes time for pickup you can get a ride here from a friend, or you can fly into the nearest airport and I may be able to pick you up. Then you hop in your car and drive it home. Sometimes the people decide to trailer it back home themselves.
IF you are just wanting me to service the engine, you have the same options, bring it yourself or ship it. Any truck can haul a rotary engine and if it is a bare shortblock most any car can haul it too. The rotary block is reduced in size to about 18x15x15 and weighs less than 200lb so it is not really any different than hauling an adult human in your car. Just bag the block a few times, put down some cardboard, sit it in your trunk or back seat, and buckle it in. When you get here I can help you unload it, with either a hoist, or a dolly, or a push cart, depending on how you've hauled it.
If you need to ship I will help set that up. It ships on a pallet via semi truck. Generally it needs to be made available for pickup from a business non residential location with loading ability such as a ramp, dock, forklift, etc. But this can also just be a meeting in the walmart parking lot with 2+ strong guys to lift the pallet into the back of the semi trailer (shoulder height). Once we know where it is being shipped from, I can create the shipping documents for you and then all you have to do is make a phone call to arrange a pickup appointment, and pay for the shipping costs directly to the carrier. The process works in reverse on the way back.

An yes I pulled it myself! Its not unlike pulling any other engine besides it weighing next to nothing. You learn a lot about the engine and how everything works by doing so as well. If not RR can gladly remove it professionally. As he already stated. lol

some after pictures.
Engine currently has about 5K miles. (daily drive the car, but only a couple miles back and fourth to work)
A few spirited drives to the dragon and DGRR as well.
Running fantastic no complaints what so ever.
10/10--An will be a return customer.
