i know it's not what you want to hear but i don't think anyone, enthusiast or not, is going to pay anywhere near full value for a salvage title. even if they were interested in the car, they'll negotiate down and show that as the reason. zoom's way is the correct way and try to go after the person that sold it to you and find out why PA didn't pick up on that little tidbit earlier.

So I list it on eBay... and they take it down, telling me that I listed the title incorrectly?

So, I do a carfax report and apparently it's had "front impact reported" and that it was sold at an auction as a salvaged vehicle? W.T.F.

So does this mean I am not going to get my car's true value? Because it's in amazing shape, I've had it for 3 years (with absolutely no issues) and it's news to me that something was ever wrong with it...

I'm thinking I might go back to the dealer who sold it to me and make his car a salvage vehicle.
Fucked up yo! I would definitely go back to the dealer with a grenade in hand. Good news is that you have had it for 3 years without problems I have seen brand new ones not last this long. They were lemons of course.

Surprised your insurance company didn't realize that.

It sounds like you might have some legal recourse here, so keep us posted. I'm very curious to see what happens...

Although it doesn't seem like the N/A FWD version would really be worth that much these days anyway? If it was a TT you could probably still get a decent price as long as it looked clean.

Yeah, there are many different places that would see that title and throw a red flag...the fact nobody has yet makes me wonder about Carfax's validity...

op, you bought it from a dealer?

you totally need to go back to that dealer, if they still exist, and take some recourse. this sounds like a win-win situation. what they did was so illegal, period. they might say "oh we didn't know" or whatever. seems to me you can't loose

Sorry.
Carfax is not accurate, Mine had a front end collision, not on Carfax! I recommend checking underneath the car too. Look for any abnormal things. most of all check it during day light too. It's easier to spot inperfections in the paint. have a mechanic check it out for you before you make the deal becuase car dealers will screw ya too.
Check all fluid's this will let you know how well the car was kept. If it's dirty, I would pass.

Ahhh... although I payed way over full price for it 3 years ago. I totally should have checked carfax. But really I've had 0% issues with this car... it's been totally reliable besides minor crap like having to get my antenna replaced.

I should just keep the damn thing.
Why not? The 3000 GT is a nice ride. It's good to have a back up car anyhow. Besides you can drive the GT while your fixing up your beautiful 8.

Hmmm. sound's about right. Do you still have your documents from the dealership? I almost bought a 3000 GT sometime ago. It had a clean title however when I looked under the hood and inside the car I found that it had been underwater. So I passed on it. I waited until I found the car I was happy with. Test drove all kinds of cars incuding Lotus Elise. Then I drove an 8 and had so much fun. I am glad I waited for my 8. Lotus was cool looking but I did not like climbing out of it. Not fun for long trips either. 8's are #1

It's been 3 years, but you probably still have a way of going after them. And probably the correct way would be to drop the original price you bought it at, so they would have to refund the price difference, compensate for the sales tax difference and the financing interest beyond what you would have otherwise paid. (Assuming you financed it)

PS Deathwatch: You can multi-quote, no need to make 4 different posts

Lmao, it’s funny you mention that… mine had been in some sort of flood too. The Carfax states that it was previously registered in a FEMA(sp?) area, aka hurricane/flood area… I can’t complain though… that car has been amazing to me regardless of what it’s been through. I should really try to find the guy because he definitely never mention ANY of this. Maybe 3000GTs were born under water? Like mermaids, . (sorry i didn't get much sleep)

FEMA registration, Junk Car, Salvage Auction Vehicle, Front end impact.

Although, my 8, as mentioned, looks like it’s been through a bit of chaos – all repaired obviously – clean title though.

Carfax is pretty accurate, it all depends on wether the repairs are handled through insurance...
If they are not then it is not reported, alot of accidents are dealt with this way with many people not having drivers insurance

hard lesson learned I hope, OP. I ALWAYS have a carfax report done on any used vehicle I buy, making sure I know it's history.
