WTF, my car is a salvaged car?

I am soooo angry. Random ranting, don't mind me.

I am trying to sell my Mits 3000GT SL on Ebay. Nothing is wrong with it - nothing ever has been wrong with it. I bought it in PERFECT condition and with what I thought was a clear title.

So I list it on eBay... and they take it down, telling me that I listed the title incorrectly?:eyetwitch

So, I do a carfax report and apparently it's had "front impact reported" and that it was sold at an auction as a salvaged vehicle? W.T.F.

So does this mean I am not going to get my car's true value? Because it's in amazing shape, I've had it for 3 years (with absolutely no issues) and it's news to me that something was ever wrong with it... :icon_no2:

I'm thinking I might go back to the dealer who sold it to me and make his car a salvage vehicle.

:spam: :)

Yeah, sucks. That's why it's always a good idea to do a Carfax on a car prior to buying it. There is, sadly, no real easy way to get any decent money on it unless someone is very trusting of the body. Salvage titles are scary.

Sorry.

Kane 01-19-2009 12:40 PM

Damn - that is fucked up...

If you find the right enthusiast buyer you might get ok money out of it.... but you will never get full value on a salvage title. Sorry.

Kelli_Kitten 01-19-2009 12:47 PM

Sorry for the spam, it magically posted itself twice, I took care of it :).

Ahhh... although I payed way over full price for it 3 years ago. I totally should have checked carfax. But really I've had 0% issues with this car... it's been totally reliable besides minor crap like having to get my antenna replaced.

I should just keep the damn thing.

dozer 01-19-2009 12:48 PM

yeah have a weekender and a DD

Ross_Dawg 01-19-2009 12:58 PM

Damn that sucks... just make a weekend warrior and slap some big turbo's on it ;)

CyberPitz 01-19-2009 12:59 PM

3000GT's are really nice cars. I'd say keep it, but if you really want to sell it, put it as a salvaged title, let them know it's perfect so far and see if someone will pay full price or at least mostly...

Kelli_Kitten 01-19-2009 01:06 PM

Bleeeh, I'd rather sell it and make my RX more sexxzy

Atilla 01-19-2009 01:10 PM

^that would be a good move ;)

RX OCHO 01-19-2009 01:35 PM

maybe if you go back to the dealer you can work something out on getting some of the money back that you over paid these people...I would!!

tubingchamp 01-19-2009 01:38 PM

I'll take it for free.. It's dead sexy.

zoom44 01-19-2009 01:44 PM

Check with someone local about going after the seller for not disclosing the salvage title when you purchased it. i believe thats illegal in the state of PA

link http://www.dmv.org/pa-pennsylvania/s...d-vehicles.php

i found a couple of PDF s on the PaDMV site too

http://search.state.pa.us/query.html...=salvage+title

3 years ago though! Once you sign your name and they have your money I really doubt they care what happens, haha.

Jedi54 01-19-2009 02:00 PM

ouch KK, that sucks!
when you registered the car every year, what did the registration say?

Either way as Zoom said, I'm pretty sure it's illegal to not disclose a salvage car when selling it.

zoom44 01-19-2009 02:04 PM

it shoould have come up at inspection ....

It's never said salvage that's for damn sure... The report definitely says it was auctioned as a salvage vehicle... any chance they can remove that from the title?

Jedi54 01-19-2009 02:14 PM

could it be an error in the Carfax? :dunno:

It could be... but then again it sorta always looked like it had been in an accident (front pass side)... but great repair work so I never thought anything of it.

Then again, same thing with my RX but it has a clean report. :Eyecrazy:

Your RX could've been in an accident that wasn't reported, therefore it won't show up on carfax.
Sorry about the 3000gt though, I'm sure someone out there is willing to pay what you want for it though. How much are you asking out of curiousity?

Rotr8 01-19-2009 02:51 PM

wow Kelli that sucks,,,,
I would definately follow up on Zooms advice, gather some ammo, and go in and demand the difference between what you would get for it as a salvaged as a clean title... The dealer will put up a fight but if you get the right documents they have no choice...
