Wow - 93 RX-7
Just watched Barrett-Jackson on Speed.
They just sold a 1993 RX-7 Banzai Edition from Pettit Racing for $48,500.
What a beautiful car! It was black with a 3-rotor(!) estimated at 500hp and a top speed in excess of 200mph yet it looked pretty much like stock (sort of).
What a deal (IMO)

38,000(1+.0399)^14=$62,347
However, that is at the inflation rate as of today. We've had a few low years in the past. Plus, the car market is generally is not reflected by the CPI, or whatever index you choose to use to measure inflation.

I think Pettit announced a while back that they're not making those anymore either. But I bet if you throw enough money at them you'd get one...it's just a 3 rotor, though. Lots of shops out there can do the same thing for you.

You know what, except for the obvious lack of power (please let's not discuss the 8's lack of power again) I like my RX-8 better in every way as compared to my FC or FD. I loved all my RX cars, but I really do like the 8 the best.
The FD is more visceral, but with coilovers and FI I think the 8 can hold it's own well enough.

I meant "just a 3 rotor" in terms that any reputable rotary shop throughout the country can do the same job as Pettit. Pettit doesn't have some super-secret upgrade that no one else has.
I agree anyone thats competent can do the 3 rotor conversion.
As for overpaying, maybe a little (w/fees and stuff) but it is totally professionally done. I know of at least one guy thats dropped 60k+ into his 20b fd ,experimenting w/different things.
also w/that tune nothing is being pushed too much so it last awhile.
