When an rx-8 owner wants a new car...
I'm mainly looking for something not more than $35,000. I usually like stuff that wow's you in the looks department...I'm not really concerned about 2 seats or 4. Around here, stuff like my 8 and the Z stick out like sore thumbs because there are hardly any around. So I like the 8 and the Z, that Toyota concept, the new Supra concept or whatever that is called, and the new Kabura/rx-7. Problem is 3 out of the 5 aren't out yet.
And I will only stick to imports. I already looked at the new Eclipse and thought that was a POS, drove the MazdaSpeed 3. Liked the power but not into the wagon. Don't like the rally cars looks-wise (Sti, EVO). I did kinda like the VW GTI. Drives really nice, not that powerful but pretty peppy. But the turnoff is the bland vw color choices.
I guess I'll end up keeping my 8 until one of the above comes out, but deep down I'm just really waiting for a revamped 8 or whatever car that new rotary goes into.

An 06 330i wouldn't be bad. This only had a one year model run as the 335 turbo replaced it.
But the 330 has a great 255hp inline 6, very similar in performance to the 8, as well as utility. The sport package ones are quite nice imho.
I test drove one last summer, and the driving feel was top notch.
Plus, they look still very new, and are in your price range.
