Question What worst car have you bought ever?

Hi to all,

I bought this one. Just look at this.

‘It’s a fun-size Audi TT! Only without the fun! In fact it was dreadful to drive – utterly gutless. But the worst thing was you felt such a prat driving it. When I went to drive it, I really did feel like Noddy and Big Ears.

I've had Hondas, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Ford, GM, as well as some of the weirdest makes - Citroen, Peugeot, Morris and Renault - but the only one that sends a shiver up my spine, and nightmares to this day was a Jeep.

The biggest piece of garbage ever made in the Western hemisphere.

Every piece you can name rotted, leaked or fell off. From the leaky windshield to the wheel and axle that parted company and rolled into a field, (400 miles from home) I would put that car against the worst that Lada, Zil or AvtoVaz could make.....

That piece de merde cost me thousands and thousands of dollars to repair, and each piece was badly designed, shoddily constructed and doomed to re-fail quickly. I've never put a windshield wiper motor in a Japanese car - they don't fail; I put three in the Jeep, and still had to reach thru the (cardboard) glovebox and yank on the rods to get it to complete a sweep.

Pathetic, and also the last US car I will ever buy.......

Got to find out.......year and model of that Jeep. I have owned several with never a problem child like yours.

My worst mistake was a Datsun 260Z - almost soured me on Japanese cars. It was even worse than the Triumph TR2.

I've had a 1993 Camry, a 2002 Jetta, and a 2005 RX-8. The Jetta gave me far more problems than the Camry, and RX-8 combined, yet it was the least powerful of the 3. I won't say it was a piece of ****, but I have the least emotional attachment to this car out of any listed.

1994 Saab 900s was worst out of my three cars just had constant small issues and once every two month big problems only had it for 6months. Will give the car credit I took it from 164k to 200k so I guess it was better in taking those miles in stride.

1993 Camaro Z28. Bought new and nothing but problems, traded it in less than a year for a Civic that lasted 13 years.

2004 RX-8 jk jk

The worst car I have ever bought was a 1999 Mercury Cougar. Had nothing but problems. At one point, a vacuum hose for the brakes snapped off and I lost all brakes. I was doing 60 on the highway when this happened. Had to use the E-Brake to ease it into a parking lot where I ghetto rigged the hose back on with some duck tape so I could get it back to my house.

It was a bit scary, but I kept my cool. I had my girlfriend with me at the time, and I turned to her and said very calmly and nonchalantly, "Just lost the brakes." She started freaking out, it was kind of funny. I knew I could ease it in someplace and we were on a long stretch with not many cars so I wasn't too freaked out.

hmmmmmmm.....so many pos' not enough time...lets start with:

77 Mustang-ran great, but everybody kept calling it a damn Pinto!! Thus it's a POS by proxy

85 Volkswagen Quantum-GOOD LORD...WHERE TO BEGIN...let's just end it, the strut mount/bracket thingy broke and busted through the hood of the car...just before I drove it in a ditch

86 Saab 9000-AWESOME CAR....until it hit 80K miles....which ain't bad, but after 80K, random things like DOOR HANDLES, REAR VIEW MIRRORS started to fall off, then the transmission went to hell, then the door locks started locking and unlocking themselves to the point of draining the battery, car would just shut off in the middle of traffic for no reason, it was one thing after another

95 Chrysler Sebring-OH, i don't even know where to begin!!! It was a POS at BIRTH (Transmission problems at 15k miles!!!, EGR valve, sunroof that worked whenever it felt like it....OH and a lighter/acc outlet that only worked when the car was OFF??? The dealer never could figure that one out???

Worst call overall, sans the fun factor? 1988 Mazda RX-7 GTU. It's not the cars fault, I bought it back in 2003-2004. It had over 200k miles on the original motor, and the body/interior showed it's age a lot. Aged like milk, if you ask me. Car had so many problems from flooding to horrible ride and everything. What you would expect from an old car that was only taken care of by 19 year old kids.

Worst car due to quality/personal reasons? 1990 Mercury Topaz. It started off wrong. I bought the car from a friend of my step-mom. She was a fat, disgusting and stinky woman. While cleaning the food and **** out of the car, I found **** lube under the drivers seat. GAAHHH. On a couple of good notes, though, the car took a superman well. Went over a large drop down at 60+ MPH and bottomed out so hard, all the hubcaps flew in different directions, oil and transmission fluid was pouring out so fast, at 60 MPH, the stream was solid. It wasn't drips, it was a straight line of liquid. Within 15 seconds I was out of oil. Thank god I turned her off. Also a good note, whenever the heater turned on, it smelled like waffles with syrup. mmmmmmm

Mine is a 1996 ford contour v6. I almost died in that car so many times cuz it sucked so bad. Wow. Good times.

Edit: Everything from windows not working, to electrical issues, transmission issues, gearbox issues, etc. Lol. I remember one time the car literally shut off (ie: all power gone, electrical, clock, everything) whille I was going like 50 mph. That was scary. Had a semi right behind me, so I ended up having to dart over the right quick enough not to get hit, which ended up in blowing out 2 tires from exiting the pavement going too fast. That was scary lol. No ps, brakes, or anything lol. But man all the memories I have with that car considering it was my first car.

I can't say that I've owned a car that I feel so poorly about. Sure they were probably considered shitty cars but I never had issues with that that weren't really my fault or just because they were old.

I had 2 plymouth acclaims (90, 94), a 96 sunfire, 06 cobalt and now the 8. I actually enjoyed them all for one reason or another. I often miss my 94 Acclaim only because I did geeky stuff to it.

The worst car I ever owned was also one of the best cars I ever owned.

1986 Porsche 951 (944 Turbo). It was the first car I started modifying for the track - one step at a time. It taught me the benefits of having a car that can actually handle well. With relatively little money invested, I had a car that was 312 rwhp, weighed about 2950 w/ driver in it (composite hatch and doors - originals were in very bad shape), and it was a very, very fast car on the track.

That was also the car that taught me about keeping some savings for maintenance. I remember when I was at a San Diego Qualcomm Autocross event sponsored by the San Diego chapter of the PCA; my waterpump seized on me and caused severe overheating issues. Being a college student at that time, I was hit with a waterpump, belts, head re-surface, gaskets, seals, and labor bill of $2,476.00 from a respected Porsche Independent Service Shop in San Diego (Black Forest Automotive).

I've since learned from my mistake. Now I know what cars I can truly afford - even with the quirks and what not. When that happened to my 944 Turbo, I was eating Top Ramen for about 2 months straight. It was either that or 99 cent menu at one of the fast food places. Man, that is one thing I DON'T miss from college.

Yeah a car that blows up if hit from behind is pretty hard to top. The only thing worse would be if the color was **** brown or vomit green.

My worst was a 1994 Lincoln Mark 8. I bought it December of '98, it had just broke warranty for time not miles. It was down hill from there. Soon after, the trans started smoking, the alarm would go off in the middle of the night, the intermittent wipers went out. The best was the defective timing chain tensioners Ford put in from the factory. There was a TSB but the previous owner never got it done.

You would start the car and the timing chains would slap against the cover until the tensioners finally adjusted. It would be hit or miss and the car wouldn't run right depending if it did it or not. And of course it ran perfect when I looked at it. I had it 3 months it was so bad.

Jeeps have probably improved - mine was a '77, from the AMC days.....

The real problem was they were built from 'anybodys' parts - the ignition was from one maker, the transfer case from someone else, they had their pick of all the parts in the world, but always went with the lowest bid.

I was buying lifters for the engine (after it self destructed - see below) and the dealer only had 14 in stock, it's a V8, so I needed 16. He tells me to go to the tractor dealer across town because the block is by International Harvester!! OMFG!
Sad part - the last two lifters were 1/3 the price at the IH tractor emporium.

Fuel pump died.
No biggie? One would think not, except this pump was driven off the cam, and when the diaphragm split, it let fuel run on to the cam lobe then down over the timing chain, into the oil of the engine.
As the engine warmed up, the idle would go up to 3000 because the pcv was sucking hot fuel vapors out of the sump!
No rocket science is needed to follow what happens when engine oil is mostly gasoline.
This stupid fuel pump took out every moving part of the prehistoric 401 cu. inch engine.

A nightmare.....
