If she didn't want to know what people on the forum thought of it, she never would have started this thread.

if you like it you like it and that's great, and quite honestly what other people say or type doesn't amount to a pile of dog dung unless they're paying for your ride. (even then it's pretty irrelevant as long as they don't miss a payment haha)

I still think there were/are better choices out there judging by your claimed criteria. Perhaps you just got sick of the 8 (and all the head8ches it caused for you) and you just wanted something else and mileage and reliability had nothing to do with it? If that's the case, and it would almost have to be in this case, why not just post that instead? There's nothing wrong with that as a reason to get something else, I've pondered on that thought myself from time to time but my car is paid for soon so I'm more inclined to stick with it and keep it as long as possible......or until the new 1.6 coupe comes out

people are going to bash on the web anyway, even if your choice made perfect sense some dumbass will try and shoot it down, that's just the nature of these forums unfortunately.

seriously though, good luck with it and get to moddin' already

Thanks you guys..

as far as me only getting rid of the 8 bc it's been a headache--false. It just wasn't safe for me anymore. I can't tell you how many times i've been stranded in random towns and have to rent a car and have mine towed..

Also, i had to get an AT car bc of my knee and i didn't want to get an AT 8 (no offense to those who have them..)

As far as mods: I'm looking into it. I just signed up on a benz forum today and working on some feedback. So far i think i have my springs picked out and now looking for a front lip and *OMG* new pully kit for the S/C lol.

It's a cool car, I like the way they look.

My friend bought a warrantied (I believe 2004) C230 Kompressor sedan about a year and a half ago. I warned him beforehand he might have reliability issues with the electronics based on my research. Indeed, in very short order he had problems. First the automatic sunscreen on the back window went out, then automatic windows and door locks, and finally he had some weird issues with the radio display.

The worst part of it was actually the hell he went through at the Mercedes dealership trying to get things fixed under warranty. Which I didn't see coming. Apparently, every time he went in there, they tried to tell him his problem was not covered under warranty. He wound up pitching fits and talking to corporate help lines and such just to get coverage. Seems very un-Mercedes-like to me. I imagine they thought since he was young they figured they could convince him to pay out of pocket, since a lot of their customers have enough money to just throw it at the problem to make it go away. This type of issue hopefully can just be attributed to this specific dealership.

The Kompressor, it's like buying a Boxster and telling everyone you drive a Porsche.

Wow that's pretty harsh! And your comment about the Boxster is almost like spitting in Porsche's face concidering the Boxster was designed after the very FIRST model to wear the Porsche name.

The Boxter is KIND of a joke - I remember when my choice was Boxter or RX-8, I picked the '8 because it was FASTER....

The engine improvements have changed this, but my friend who had the first-gen Boxter has long since sold it and moved on.

the first gen of the boxster is just horrible, the only reason people bought the boxster is because they cant afford the 911. the new gen is much better, looks better too. i like it

What was so horrible about the first gen boxster? They handled great, had nice styling and you could beat the crap out of them. The base model was quick enough to pace an rx8 and a S would leave an 8 behind. The new 987's have more power and different rear suspension setup which is nice but incorporated VW/Audi control units which have nothing but problems communicating with each other.
