I'd wait on the Genesis until it gets the more powerful motor from the Sonata.
The Mustang and the VW are garbage.
Bikes are thrilling - until you realize how boring and uncomfortable they are until you do something illegal.
Anyone that says "Yeah, but it's a Hyundai" should substitute "Mazda" into that sentence and see how the rest of the motoring world reacts.
As far as anyone that would judge you for driving a Hyundai goes, they judge you just as much for driving a Mazda. They both carry about the same stigma in the eyes of the "regular" folk.
The Genesis is a bit sketchy on the interior styling, however.
If the car matures over the next few years, I'll probably get one myself.

For what it's worth, I'd go with the Genesis out of the 3. At least it feels sporty.

Go check out Lee Hyundai down in Fayetteville. I was just considering a Genesis they have some that are 8k cheaper than anywhere else, I have looked. I am not sure about the dealer themselves, though. Take a look there you wont find a new Mustang or GTI anywhere close to the price of the Genesis Coupe.
Go drive the 3 back to back, you will see the Genesis is the best choice of the 3. Plus, why spend upper 20's on a FWD car that is so small. I also like the looks of the previous generation GTI over the new one.
As much as I like the Mustang I would only get the V8 version. The V6 is fun but just isn't a Mustang until you have the power and sound of the V8 leaving the muscular sound behind you for the other people to enjoy.

I just got called out by MazdaManiac. Uh oh... It's all down hill from here.
I don't think Mazda has quite the same low budget stigma as Hyundai but that is all conjecture. I don't judge anyone who drives one, I just don't notice them. And you'll never see my buy one, even the Genesis. They're just so uneventful with no character.
But hey that's not having an opinion, that's judging </sarcasm>

Personally, I'm not a fan of any mustang but that does not matter.... If its just between these three cars, then go with a genesis. I would wait a little longer so they can add a little power. I nearly picked one up when they first came out. IMO, for the money they are very nice cars, but thats just me.

Out of the three choices, the Genesis V6 track model would be my pick.
Interior is cheap looking, but for the money you get rwd, sexy looks, a proper torsen diff, brembo brakes, etc.

I joined a genesis coupe forum as I was in the market for one before I bought the 8. The biggest complaint about the GC seems to be the poor mpg(2.0t) and the horrible manual transmission. I drove a 2.0T track and I wasn't really that impressed with it. It is a much larger car than the 8, but the red seat inserts did nothing for me. The ride wasn't all that great and if you're going more than 5mph it's nearly impossible to get the sifter into first gear. They do have a pretty good aftermarket, but most of the parts I've seen are really expensive...altho a lot of them are for the 8 too.

Not to bash, but this statement really stands out. Sounds like you need to go out and drive more cars. RWD has many advantages, especially in the "feel" department. There is no torque steer in a RWD car. Only happens when the drive wheels are the turning wheels as well.
For what it's worth, I'd go with the Genesis out of the 3. At least it feels sporty.

Sorry, I wasn't very clear. I meant "would I notice torque steer in a FWD car if I'm not drifting through corners?"
I didn't in the GTI at least, but I wasn't really pushing it, and I certainly didn't push the rentals I've driven that had FWD.

Extraordinary Engineering
Given the choice take the VW
Great handling, good mileage, practicality and good looks
Add to that an awesome online community that dwarfs the RX8 club

I'm with Mysql. Just spent quite a bit of money making my RX8 faster and wondered how long it would be until the upgrades get boring. I don't have enough money for a turbo or a faster car, so I'll do the next best thing: buy a nice bike.
The Genesis seems nice, but I see very few on the roads these days which tells me a lot about the car. I would not buy a V6 Mustang. Drive the 5.0 and you'll understand, its a beast. Getting a fuel efficient car is one thing, but don't settle. I've heard great things about the GTI for years. Its also not a watered-down version of a great car like the V6 Mustang or the 2.0 Genesis. My vote would go to the Vdub.

If someone held a gun to my head and told me to pick one UND ONLY VON of those three...
...hmm. I'm perhaps unfairly biased against the Genesis, since Hyundai is working so damn hard to make their cars unterribad, but the Genesis I drove last year was just unforgivable from a driving standpoint. It makes you realize just how good all the little things are in the RX8 - and the interior makes your average Sentra look like a freakin' Bentley.
I guess I'd go with the GTI, since it's more utilitarian and little FWD hot hatches are just goofy fun. But if you're looking at a hot hatch, why not just get a Mazdaspeed3? You sacrifice a little interior quality for a wilder (more torqusteerey) ride than the VW.
As for the Mustang, the new V6 is really quite good - almost as beefy as the old V8 - but it'd always bug me that I didn't pony up (har) for the GT.
I'd take a fourth option and grab a gently loved STI and blow the doors off any of those three. Or: Mazdaspeed6, 370Z, a 300ZX in nice condition...the list goes on.

Thanks for the input everyone - these really are great forums. Forget the numbers, Mustangs aren't really my style if I'm honest. I'll be making a compromise somewhere no matter what. I may scrap all 3 and see if I can find a good deal what I really want: a 135i. A gently loved 2010 with minimal features might make the price cut.

and I love a car that feels agile when I'm behind the wheel.
What about the earlier suggestion for a used STI? Or if you want brand new, the new WRX is supposed to be as good or even better then the brand new STI, at much lower cost. You could also look at a used EVO X. Those are probably my favorite choices around the 30k price mark, besides my R3 lol.
Btw, have you tried driving a Series 2 RX8, specifically the R3? You should at least test drive one before you make your next purchase. Test drive as many cars as possible.

A 1 series powered by their turbo I6 would be euphoric to drive - just stay away from that horrendous looking hatchback version.
