That's not a WRC '07 and there really will not be a WRC '07 since Mitsubishi is only planing on returning to the WRC in an M2 capacity with their older car. While that may be a further developed '05 Lancer it certainly doesn't have an updated active diff since they were outlawed in the WRC, and that's not a new car by any means.. In other words, the Autoblog guy once again proves he's a moron.

i pwn therefore i am
I know that the engines are probably tuned like that on purpose because of rules and performance, but that is the most ungodly sound I've ever heard coming from a car. It sounds like a squirrel got stuck in a fart can exhaust and just won't die.

Yep the driver is using the ebrake, which by the way automatically disengages the rear diff so the wheels can lock up without stalling the engine (a trick first used by Subaru)
The chattering noise comes from the diferentials which are heavily preloaded in a race car like that, and the horrible sounding exhaust is the engine backfiring to keep the turbo spooled up even when the throttle is lifted (a trick Mitsu has used for awhile) to eliminate turbo lag.

Seems like he was having a lot of trouble with the wet portions of that video. His lines always seemed exceptionally slow and awkward - maybe it was just THAT slick, but it really looked like he was off his game.

Great Clip.
I like how everyone on here is critiquing the driving skills of a WRC driver in a training session. Sheesh. Thats like me going to a miami heat practice session and posting up remarks everytime D-Wade missed a shot.

wrc rocks my socks off, if you check out the site wrc.com you can regester to win a trip (maybe just tickets) to an event of your choice. and usualy if there isnt obnoxious smoke involved or heavy drinking involved most americans dont like it. (drag and nascar) not saying that these drivers dont have skills but a wrc driver pwns all
