Turbo GTO Vids

This is a turbo kit available for the GTO.... It's remote mounted so it is in the trunk... just thought that it sounded amazing and that you guys should hear it.

Wow! I looked over the STS remote turbo systems on their website. ...What a simple install! Imagine just replacing our muffler with a turbo compressor and they say there is not much lag at all. ...And it's not too expensive. Very interesting...

Ya it seems pretty impressive, I'm still trying to find a downside cuz this just sound too good to be true. They say it mounts in the trunk so you don't really need an intercooler running conservative boost because the turbo stays cool since it's not on the engine. There is one thing I don't like though; they take out the true dual exhaust that comes on the '04 GTO and put in a single so they can mount the BOV down by the muffler (which is kinda weird). I'm trying to talk my dad into getting this kit on his goat!!

WOW! This does seem like a great product. It makes sense but it seems like the compressed air would lose some of it's strength as it travles up into the engine??? It's probably insignificant but that's the only thing (looking at it real quick) that I could see.

If they are making 65% more power that would mean in a RX8:

392 FREAKEN HP!!!!!!! Can you think what a RX8 would do with 390 or so HP...WOW!!!!!

The price aint so bad either...GREAT!!!

Peterson thanks for shareing...I think (when I get a RX8)....I have found my Turbo kit. Now, not to go crazy too early I know there is alot more to think about than what I'm saying but if I could get 350HP out of the RX8...I WOULD BE WELL PLEASED!!!

hooking up a turbo has never been an issue with the rx-8. If it were that simple, we would have had a turbo kit available before the car was even being sold. It's the ECU that causes issues.

Jason's right Wannahave... the chances of this kit getting to the 8 anytime soon are slim and none. You can try and call or e-mail the company (STS) and maybe you can get them fired up about making the kit 8 compatible.

You can get 392HP out of the car just by doing headers, exhaust, intake, and a cam. Infact that would be like 400-450rwhp depending on what came you do. Quite a but cheaper than 4500 for the turbo kit, but still STS makes a pretty good kit. There has been a lot of discussion about this kit for the RX-8 on the aftermarket/performance section.

Update, I did email them and asked them if they were working on one for the RX8. I told them if they kept it under $4,000...I would be a buyer.

seeing this car lumber around it reminds me of my Highschool English teacher who weighed over 300LBs and when she walked her body swayed back and forth

It really doesn't handle that bad... I've driven it. Don't get me wrong it's no RX8 in the curves... but it's better than f-bodies and old muscle cars. It's actually something the magazines note is how well this car handles. But I'll agree that it does roll alot in the videos.

It's all that HEFT (while I think it handles OK too). The next GTO has to be lighter by at least 200 pounds and look MEAN...to make the name GTO more respected today as it once was.

I stiill like that Turbo...I'll let you know what they tell me, I hope it's good news but I think it wont be.

Regarding the ECU...I hope by next year someone will figure out how to tune or replace the stock ECU...cause as it has been stated, it's giving everyone a headache.
