But then you don't get I-Drive! Plus, if money's a factor, you're not working hard enough. haha.

I'm just messing man. I'm sure it's a great car, not my style though.

Apparently most people don't care how favorably the G8 is reviewed, as the sales are quite poor. If I remember correctly, an article is the WSJ claimed sales were currently running about 1000/month, nationwide.

I hope they pick up because I like the G8 a lot. I fear they might have hurt sales with the two fake hood scoops, as I think that culls out a number of more conservative buyers who might have bit otherwise. I personally would still consider the car though.

Honestly, I don't think it's the car... I think it's the dealerships. DUMB *** Pontiac dealership in my area is trying to get $3,000 over sticker for the G8 GT. They did this crap with the GTO and it bit them in the *** HARD. Why don't those stupid dealerships LEARN from past mistakes!?!?!

The reason a person buys a G8 is because it is a good value. Don't screw that up buy by price gouging. We need a damn proper Holden dealership in the US so Pontiac can't F up with these cars. Unbelievable!!!!

That's cool. I admit it, I'm a fanboi. I went to go look at them again last week at lunch. If I'm going to get one, I definitely want an LS3 GXP M6.

I think Pontiac may be in trouble in the long run. I personally know of two major dealerships in this area that have disappeared and the remaining network is sparse. Just read today that the Pontiac Solstice and Saturn Sky are proving very expensive to produce I likely might not be continued past the current design in 2013. Geez, what will they have left?

I think for memory GMH Here were looking at around 25,000 G8's per year as that is their capacity plus local Holden VE Commodore's Australian production.

So if sales are around 1000 per month, GM would be disappointed, they hoped to double that figure at least..

I guess gas prices have not helped any brand of High Performance cars.

I don't understand WHY GM (Pontiac) had to change the look of the Commodore G8 for the US market, why change a good formula just to morph into the Pontiac look?

IMO if you are wanting a great RWD large V8 sedan the G8 is great Bang for your buck driving.

I found some numbers... there were 12,045 2008 G8's built
March 2008 Pontiac G8 sales = 777
April 2008 Pontiac G8 sales = 2,126
May 2008 Pontiac G8 sales = 1,831
June 2008 Pontiac G8 sales = 1,536
July 2008 Pontiac G8 sales = 1,472
Year to date (July) is 7,742

Not sure about August... I know the 2009's are out, so the sales are getting mixed.

I'd like to know why GM thought it was appropriate to release a sedan like this that does NOT have an option for a navigation system. I can pretty much bet that all the competitors and "target" cars have one. Heck, I can get one in a Honda Fit if I'm not mistaken.

Seems pretty shortsighted. I know not everyone wants one, but c'mon... not even an option?

I will quote the Road&Track Road Test for the G8
In a surprising tech twist, the Pontiac G8 GT's navigation system has become my favorite OEM model in the automotive kingdom — especially amazing as the car doesn't have a nav system...in the traditional sense, anyway.

Hit the OnStar button on the rearview mirror, an operator comes on loud and clear and asks if you need driving directions. Tell him where you'd like to go, and the driving directions get down-loaded to the car, with left/right/straight arrows and distance appearing on the small information center screen between the tachometer and speedometer, accompanied by equally clear audible directions. Plus side: Hands-free driving directions on the trot (no need to pull over and stop to access a touch screen); no time wasted fiddling with various levels on the navigation menus; savings of $2000-plus by not having to purchase a navigation system and/or an even more expensive luxury package. Minus: You must purchase the OnStar "Directions & Connections" subscription plan for $28.90/month or $299 annually (but $299 times several years is still less than $2000, isn't it?). Note to GM: Please try to incorporate this OnStar navigation with gauge cluster display in as many vehicles as possible.

For the record, I was stating what I recall from an article I read earlier this year and what I read recently about the sales numbers.

My reference to picking one up at a good price was based on the employee pricing for all sale.

My opinion is like many worthy GM products of late, the car does not get any marketing support because GM has too many divisions competing for marketing dollars. I also think like the GTO, GM has no clue who to market it to. I would still like to take a 6spd manual out for a test drive though.

I'd definitely take a G8 over any 5 series, except maybe the M5. I know, they are in very different leagues.

I may even take one over an M5 since I'm much more familiar with modding GM engines than BMW engines. I'd have to look around to see what people have done to that BMW V10.

Awesome. That Vauxhall is same as the GXP version of the G8. I think it did very well.

I don't see why not. There are several guys in the US who did it when they did the GTO to Monaro conversions. I actually contemplated it. I just thought the Holden front end looked far better and more aggressive than the Pontiac front.
